Videographer? Is it worth it?

Kayla , on September 22, 2016 at 10:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

I have my photographer for my wedding already booked. A video of the wedding is not included in the cost. I never even considered having a videographer because how many times would someone actually watch their wedding video. Well my friend just got married and sent me her video and it was amazing! Is this something that is worth the money? Especially if I am trying to cut costs where I can?

I'm also trying to cut costs and thought about taking the videographer out but the more I see other people's wedding videos the more I want one. They are really sentimental and I great to share with family who couldn't make it for whatever reason. I think I will end up having one because my photographer has a photo/video package. Ask yours if he has a package.

I would lpve to have one as well, but I think it cost the same as the photographer, but I agree with you Farah, the more I see, the more I want.

I haven't fully decided this either but right now I'm on the thought of having a couple of close friends video tape the ceremony and main dances and then editing the video myself . I've seen some on Facebook like this and they turn out cute.

I would love to have one as well after seeing my sister's. However, like you said idk how often I would watch it and it's pricey. I thought about putting a few cameras up to record but have them hidden.

It's not necessary but I think its worth it... So many memories that we will want to relive in the years to come.

We've been to two weddings this year both had videographer. I get it, nice idea we tried scouting around and couldn't find anything. But for 1/2 the price or even more why not buy your own and make it a lifetime investment Smiley smile Then have people pass it around ask some for certain shots.

Reading the other comments reminded of this company I keep getting emails from Wedflix. From what I understand they give you cameras for a few people to record from and then they edit it together into a movie for you. Sounds cool because you get different points of view I guess but I would really have to trust people I gave the cameras to. And the pricing is alot cheaper than getting a videographer. Something to consider?

Abigail A. I was thinking about that idea too, having some people record the important stuff. I also saw on Pinterest an app where everyone can upload their pictures and videos from the night. I just wonder how many people would actually do that.

It'll be a great thing for your kids and grandkids to see and feel like they were actually there! I would've loved wedding videos of my parents

My #1 regret is not having one. I really wish I reallocated my budget to add one.

We were not going to hire a videographer. My mum was adamant that we NEEDED one so we looked into it. I will copy and paste the part of the email from our videographer that had me convinced.

"While a wedding photo captures a single, still snapshot of a moment, a wedding film captures many moments as they unfurl. For example, a photo may show the bridal party posing in front of a tree, but a wedding film candidly shows the story around the photograph. The laughter. The giggles. The chatter. The tears. The sound of the wind through the trees and the birds chirping their approval. It's more than just a visual feast, it's an experience. A sensation for all the senses."

For the longest time, I thought it was a waste.. well, we have a phone meeting on Thursday now. I don't think most people regret having it, but many regret not having it

I made sure to have one and I watch the videos all the time. It was some of the best money we spent on the wedding.

We just booked our videographer! I feel having more than just photos to relive such a special moment is important. On days where you want to cry tears of joy all over again and see how much fun everyone had at your wedding. For $2200 we are getting a full day (12hrs), a highlight video (about 3-4 min) and the rest of footage on a flash drive!!! He's awesome and has a degree in film and cinematography. Look up Jake Durrett video

I moved mountains so to say to make sure we would have one. We met with him for the first time a month ago, and now I'm even more excited!!

Yes it's worth it. I love our photos, but I cried watching our video. Video captures emotion in a way that photos can't. Getting to watch those moments unfold again was priceless. My only regret with videography was that we didn't pay for more hours.

I wasn't going to get one, but I watch wedding videos all of the time and I just couldn't imagine not being able to look back on my wedding day - I have the worst memory ever and the day goes by fast. I think it's something that is worth the cost. Look around at videographers in your area, sometimes they run special deals as well! Maybe consider cutting back on things such as flowers, favors, centerpieces, if they are not that important to you?
