We are trying to decide if we want videography at your wedding. We really don't want it but my future husbands mother wants us to get it and willing to pay for it. I'm just curious every ones opinions on having it or not

If she's going to pay why not? A video to look back on could be nice but if you don't like it could be something for her. What do you think?

Unless you feel strongly against it, I would take advantage of the offer. I can’t think of any reason you’d regret having a wedding video.

If she is willing to pay for it, I say go for it! I initially did not want a videographer, but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted one. We ended up booking a videographer because there is a lot we will not get to see on our wedding day and it will great to have our closest friends and family in our video for us to watch for years to come. It will be something wonderful to look back on!

I say go for it! I think a video is well worth the price, and it's definitely a bonus if your FMIL wants to pay.

Videography is one of those things people often regret not having. Having a video to look back on your wedding day is honestly amazing and great to have!

If it’s covered or in your budget, it would be great to have.

I got it because my dad said I should for our out of state family that wont be able to attend since we are doing a small intimate wedding. My photographer had a package deal of 3 hours photography and 3 hours videography for $1000 so we jumped on the deal. My dad ended up helping cover half the cost for us. If your FH mom is willing to help cover cost then get it otherwise see if your budget is ok with adding it yourself.

Yes. Spring for it. And here’s why:

When you look back at a picture you will be a let is e in your minds eye a small glimpse that can fade, with a video you have it to look at whenever you want and it won’t fade or change.
Also, sadly, there will be those whom you love and want to have with you forever and who won’t be. Your grandparents and parents will be frozen in time in a wonderfully happy moment to have you watch when you are missing them.

We have a videographer and photographer.

Thank you all for your replies! My fiance posted this on my account last night on accident and I woke up to plenty notifications I wasn't expecting lol. Anyway, I know that with my parents wedding video, any time we've watched it with them, they skip around and we basically watch the procession, speeches and then a little something at the end. That little something is all of my parents siblings, their parents and grandparents giving them well wishes and a little advice. For me with video right now, I only really care about having our ceremony and something similar to what happened at my parents wedding. My fiancee agrees with me about that, too. She and I both believe that it's a lot of money for something we likely won't watch much besides those two things. We would rather use that money towards something we actually want.

Videography was the best decision we made! If you don’t have one, you will regret it. Plus, it’s free to you. So why not?

Video is a must for us. I want to be able to see the event until a certain point as I won’t be able to see my future husband as he walks in or the reception as we all walk in and our first dance. These pieces of the wedding are so important to me and so it’s a must.

Hi! You don’t need to have the video all night. We are aiming for three hours just to capture the moments we want.

I am so thankful we have the video honestly. It is so sweet to be able to hear my husband's words again. Reading them is one thing, but actually sitting there and hearing it is so awesome. Plus, I know that in the future we will lose people. Being able to have their voices, smiles, seeing them dance is so special. Plus, the videographer catches things you DON'T see.

Getting it was one of the best decisions we made. Having a video to remember the day is absolutely priceless. It lets you relive it in a way that photos just cant!

And if she’s willing to pay for it why not?!

Agreed with this! Our videographer got the tail end of us getting ready, our ceremony, our photo taking time and a bit of cocktail hour, our first dance, speeches, and then the first hour of the reception. He was there for 4 hours, and it was plenty!

Most videos now are like highlight reels, so you don't really need to skip around. It'll be all the good stuff in a condensed time. Most videographers will also send the raw unedited footage, but you'll probably only watch the short edited one.
