Video of Just the Ceremony?

Alison, on January 29, 2022 at 10:53 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 10
Hi! I really love the idea of recording our wedding ceremony (since I wont get to see everyone walk down the isle!), but every videographer I look into makes more of a movie type video. I really just want a raw cut of the ceremony so I can look back and see it how everyone else did. The videos I’ve seen are gorgeous but I’m really looking for something super simple, has anyone done this/ have any recommendations?

Our videographer creates the highlight video, but also does a “full length” edited video (20-40 mins long) that includes the full ceremony then highlights of the rest of the day/evening. Then he also provides all raw footage of the day/night. Maybe see if any videographers offer a package like this.

If you want something that simple, I would set up a tripod. You could also reach out to videographers to see if they could just do the ceremony even if that’s not a package they typically offer.

The videographer for my daughter's wedding is going to do a short (about 6 min) highlights video like what you describe. She is also going to do what she calls a ceremony documentary video - recording the entire ceremony with very few edits. Altogether the videographer will be recording for a little over two hours as part of the Ceremony package that includes the highlights video for $500. We're adding on the Ceremony Documentary for an extra $300.

Can you try thumbtack.com ? I found a videographer on there that was willing to just give me raw footage because I was interested in editing it myself. Instead of setting up a tripod, I wanted the peace of mind that no one would stand in front of the camera or it accidentally shuts off and the videographer would have professional sound quality in addition to the image. He was going to charge me about 500 for like 3 hours. Ceremony, first dances and parts of the reception. I was clear that I only wanted raw footage. In the end I never hired him and I used videos from my guests and I strung them together to make my own wedding video but the quality was not great since it was from iPhones! Good luck with your decision Smiley smile

Are you getting married at a church? I talked to the video/sound guy at mine who films the church services for covid streaming and he just filmed our ceremony for cheap.

Do you have a planner? My friend live streamed their wedding during COVID and had someone on the planning team make sure they caught everything. We're planning on having one of my brother's do it since our siblings wont be involved in the wedding and he wants some kind of job.

If youre having an attendant you could ask them to film as well.

That sounds very reasonable price wise! Could I ask for the name of the videographer?

Looks like the rates went up a bit after the new year. But compared to other quotes that I got, it's still very reasonable. Here's the website:
