I am seeking advice on a situation with my videographer. We got married 11 months ago and are just now receiving “bits and pieces” of our wedding video. That was after essentially being ghosted up until a week ago.
The $2000 package we were promised included
“We’ll put together a fun little teaser video right after, a trailer (teaser with a little more… oomf!), a highlight reel, and full cinema 4k film. On top of that, we cull through all the footage, and save TONS of high resolution screenshot images from our super high end cameras, which is essentially like having videographers and photographers all in one”
We were also promised 2 videographers on the day of and only had one present.
After I emailed recently them I received an update that
“We’ve had to change how we edit and deliver everything, so we’ll be sending you links to each “part” as we wrap them up. We used to edit a full film all together, but we simply can’t do that with our current setup… However, we’ve been told that it’s much more fun this way, so enjoy!”
So currently we have received one part and it’s a YouTube video… with no indication as to whether we will receive copies that are not linked to YouTube and can be saved. My worry is that they can remove videos from their YouTube as they choose and then we wouldn’t have access to them anymore. YouTube makes you pay for a premium membership in order to download videos and then it’s a recurring cost to keep access to downloaded videos. I feel like it’s not very fair to have to pay for something we should already have access to?
Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated. I do have to admit the quality of the videos have been great so far. I would just love to have them to watch years down the road and not isolated to YouTube and their discretion as to when they remove them from their site
