What is everyones opinion on a photographer and a videographer? Is a videographer worth it? Do any of you who got both, watch your wedding video?

This really comes down to whether or not you have the budget for it.

We originally didn't want one because we couldn't justify spending thousands on a video that we'd watch maybe once a year if that. We ended up booking one because our videographer had a 50% deal on all of his video packages, so it was a serious steal. If that didn't happen, then we wouldn't have had the budget for one.

A professional photographer is a MUST in my opinion. If you don't get a videographer, those photos will be the only tangible thing to look back on. You want those photos to be of great quality.

Our video was some of the best money we spent on our wedding. Could we have lived without it? Of course. If it means taking away another important part of your budget, I wouldn’t do it. But we definitely watch ours. Photos are great, but they don’t allow you to hear the music when you’re walking down the aisle, the sound of your spouse reading their vows, or the laughter from all of your friends and family in one room.

At first, we were just going to book a photographer. However, since we postponed, we're planning to book a videographer as well! Videos and photos are important memories from the day, and my fiance and I think it's important to have both. Photos are beautiful to display around your home, look back through over the years, etc, and videos are great to really re-live the music and the speeches and the laughter and the vows.

It's definitely a personal decision at the end of the day. We certainly had the budget to hire both had we wanted to, but we opted for just a photographer in the end because we didn't feel we'd watch the video very often. No regrets!

We’re just having a photographer- just can’t justify the expense for something we’d hardly ever watch.

We hired both. A videographer was very important to me because you only have so many things to look back on from your wedding day. I plan on watching the video every anniversary.

I didn't want either. Not a fan of how I look on camera. My FH is paying for photography. We both didn't want to pay for videography when we know we would only watch it on our anniversary, if that.

Most brides say they wish they had spent money on a videographer or at least thought about getting a GoPro camera to document it which can be used for future events too. It captures what photos can't..family/friends you may never see again, vows, music, etc. But most say they only watch it on anniversaries.

However if the $200 GoPro is out of your budget, just get the best photos you can afford since that's all you have besides memories after the food is eaten and flowers die.

I’m doing both. Having a videographer was something I wanted. I love that our special day will be documented especially after hearing so many people say that the day flies by and you don’t process everything with everything goin on. Think it’ll also be beautiful to watch with family/ future kids (id watch mine with my mom growing up).

We originally only planned to have a photographer but were offered an amazing deal so we ended up hiring videography as well

We are only using photographer. We will likely never watch the video and it’s not in our budget.

We've been married for over a year and don't regret not getting a videographer. We couldn't justify the cost, but we have hundreds of beautiful photographs from our day.

We had a videographer, and we are very glad we did.

If you can't afford one, see if your local college has a film department. You might be able to find a student who will charge less, but still get you a video.

Hiring a videographer was, by far, the best decision we made! We love our photos, and we look at them often, but a video is entirely different! Your wedding day will fly by, so being able to relive your day in motion is so special. We watch our videos very often and they still bring tears to my eyes!
