Venue: The Merion in Cinnaminson, NJ

Well that ballroom has a massive chandelier hanging right over the middle of the dance floor.

There are about 4 or 5 different ballrooms at The Merion, and there was a wedding taking place in the ballroom directly above The Palace ballroom. She said that she felt HORRIBLE for the bride, because the wedding upstairs was super loud and the center chandelier was literally shaking so hard from the dancing taking place upstairs, that people were afraid to dance, because they thought it was going to fall down on them!!!! She also said they could hear every single song and word from the wedding upstairs!! It was so loud, that they could hardly hear the best man and maid of honor toasts downstairs! The bride wanted to cry and felt like her day was ruined.

So you can imagine my concern when I heard about this!!! I've heard nothing but wonderful reviews from friends and family and coworkers, BUT none of them had ever attended a wedding in the particular ballroom I picked. They've all attended weddings in ballrooms where this wouldn't have been a problem (either ballrooms on the second floor or where there was no other ballroom directly over top).

So of course, I immediately emailed my contact at the venue with this concern, and she told me not to worry. She said that this was only an issue several years ago, when the manager didn't require the DJ's to conduct sound checks before events. They have since fired that manager, and the new manager requires sound checks for all DJ's before events. However, she did not address the shaking chandeliers. When I followed up with asking about the chandeliers again, she just said, "that issue has also been addressed too."

I am still worried! Has anyone here attended a wedding at The Merion in this ballroom recently? Did you have this issue? My hope is that since my wedding is on a Sunday night, that maybe there won't be an event taking place at the ballroom directly over ours.

Bumping only because I've posted about The Merion on here before and I've received comments from other members who said they attended weddings there before. Just bumping in case those members missed this post yesterday and can help today. Thanks everyone

I'd want more specific information than that.

We've been there, but only one event was going on at the time.

I'd ask how it was addressed. She gave you info on what they did for the sound, she should be able to give an explanation for the chandelier.

What was the end verdict on this? I'm getting married in that room in March.
