Venue showing? Time and more questions

Bella, on August 16, 2019 at 12:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
So i'm scheduling times to go look at venues. How long does it usually take? Like maybe 30-45 minutes? Also I have 3 venues I have narrowed it down to. I'm going to go ahead and schedule them all. I've already been told that "when u see ur venue u'll know"

Should i go ahead and schedule them all? I'm saving my fiances favorite(based off pictures) for last. They are all within about 20-30 minutes of each other. I really wanna get my venue booked as I want a barn wedding in the south in october and apparently those are really popular.

I'd say that seems about right. We were there around 45 minutes. We had appointments for 3 venues. After we toured the first one, we knew we wanted to get married there so we cancelled the other two.

I think we spend about an hour at each venue we toured, maybe a little longer. We got introduced to whoever was showing us the place and anyone who was at the venue at the time. With the place we booked (a remodeled barn) the owner walked us around the grounds, the barn and gave us a little history lesson on the barn. She also talked about pricing, amenities within, times, contract and every other thing. On top of that I was taking notes and pictures and asking questions. Like you mentioned, when you know, you know. We ended up canceling the other two tours we had because we loved the barn so much.

I've heard you take the longest at the one you pick. I don't know ive never went and looked at venues for anything lol. I was thinking we'd probably spend maybe 30-45 minutes at each one.

That was definitely the case for us: we spent over an hour at the one we chose and 30 minutes at the one we didn't.

I would budget an hour at each to be safe. We often had to wait 10-15 minutes for the tour guide at the beginning, then the tour took 30-40 minutes (more for the venues that had multiple location choices, brides' room, etc.). Plus we had tons of questions for each and asked for extra paperwork (sample contracts, floor plans, etc.) which added time.

We definitely spent the least amount of time at the place we picked - haha. We toured a winery where we did a tour, sat down to price things out, and then did a tasting (probably took an hour or a little longer), a second smaller winery where we did a tour and talked to the owner for a little (probably took 45 minutes) and a distillery where we walked through, and talked to the event coordinator briefly (less than 30 minutes). To be fair, we had been to the first winery and the distillery before, and the distillery didn't really have any space that isn't included in their bourbon tour that we've been on several times.

An hour is about right. We took longer at ones we liked and asked a lot of questions but could also make a follow-up appointment.

I believe daughter allowed about an hour at each, plus travel time. We visited 10 (yes, ten...) total. The most we did in a day was 5 (a couple of those were very geographically close to each other). She had them scheduled from about 9:30 am until late afternoon (with a good break at lunch time, and we went to dinner at the end of the day). The longest visits were at the venue they ultimately chose (we saw it second, and then went back when they were ready to make a final decision) and at the first couple we visited (when we began, we didn't really know what to expect or what to ask, so it definitely took us longer). By visits 4-6, it was pretty clear if she knew immediately it was a "no," and then it was just awkwardly trying to stay long enough as to not be completely rude....
