Venue "rules" with invitation

Hi everyone! Etiquette question: my mom wants to include a brief list of "rules for the venue" with our invitation, on the back of the directions card insert, mostly to let people know not to smoke inside. I'm tempted to agree to it because it could also be a good way to give our guests a heads-up on our "unplugged" ceremony (no cameras or phones), and it could be fine if it's worded tactfully, but part of me thinks it could come across as rude to include a list of rules with the invitation. I'm more inclined to use word of mouth or a section of our website instead. What do you all think? What's the best way to spread the word about these kinds of details without inserting it in the formal invitation? Any suggestions for a good compromise? Thanks! Smiley smile

What other rules are there?! As everyone already said, people already know not to smoke. If someone does light up... let staff deal with it. Rules on invites are ..... weird.

She needn't worry, someone lighting up under the tent will be dealt with by the venue. And if she's not paying (I didn't see this so I could be wrong) she doesn't get to say what goes on the invitations Smiley smile

It's 2016. Who doesn't know you can't smoke inside a building? Who still smokes?

(That last one was flippant, but seriously.)

ETA: Even if she is paying for anything, she still doesn't get a say on what goes on the invitations.

I would put that info on your website, not with your wedding invitations.

I had someone come into my office a few months ago and ask if we had a smoking room or if he had to go outside. Where have you been in the last 15-10 years that has a smoking room that you even still ask that question? He's the kind of person that makes people think you need these rules.
