venue Help_new Jersey_unique

Hello!

Jersey girl here, pretty much to the core, except for one thing. I don't like the "traditional" NJ wedding hall. Gaudy chandeliers, recessed colored lighting (think Jersey Shore season 1), the whole nine yards, im just not about it. So, figured I would come on here and ask for some help. I am ......

Having 140 guests

Looking for an October 2020 date.

Dont want the whole wedding outside (ceremony is fine)

Will not go past like Point Pleasant Beach area, that is far enough south for us based on living in North Jersey.

I would love....

Down the shore (but not a deal breaker)

something rustic/romantic

on the water

possibly a place people can stay at that night, if not, VERY close by (alot of people will be leaving their kids at hotel/rooms)

Good food

Nothing too gaudy Smiley atonished

PLEASE send ideas! I need help!

Smiley heart Your not so Jersey, girl.

Where do you live in New Jersey? I live in New Jersey, near Montclair. Maybe instead of going south, go north? There are so many beautiful rustic romantic places in upstate New York. Is that too far? Beacon, New Paltz, Woodstock, etc.

If you like vintage, like true 1920s, try the Park Savoy. Its beautiful, especially the outside.

Hey, thanks, I live right near Paramus. We would like to keep it in the 1 hr to 1:30 area. So Woodstock is too far I know but I will look into those other towns you mentioned. Only reason I never looked there is we would love a water aspect. But I will check, thanks!

There’s a place in Beacon called the round house that has amazing waterfall views… Not the same as the Jersey shore I totally get it but the entire Hudson river area has water views… I’ve been till maybe four or five weddings upstate and they are absolutely gorgeous! Good luck!

Check out The Asbury or Porta in Asbury Park. For Jersey shore weddings, they are (some what) affordable

    Hi Jill!

Take a look at Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ! It’s so charming and rustic - it’s an old preserved canal town and actually a NJ state park. Their cocktail hour and reception spaces are amazing and they have some great options for the ceremony - both indoor and outdoor. It is not on the water but the Morris Canal is right there. Their caterers, JAM Catering, are a dark to table caterer and the food is fantastic.

last but not least - their pricing is set up to be all inclusive which is so helpful! Per person pricing includes all of the food, alcohol, some decor, bridal suite, cake, coffee bar, outdoor fire pit.

    Hi Jill,

I live in NYC and was searching for a unique venue, not a restaurant or a banquet hall and most importantly within our budget. We ended up with Bishop Farmstead in South Jersey (it’s also a new wedding venue). The big red barn is beautiful and can fit up to 200 people. They are adding air conditioning and heating in the barn, perfect if it gets cold in October 2020. They have a beautiful area outside for the ceremony but also an option to have it in the barn in case it rains. You should also take a look at other venues Jeffrey A Miller Catering exclusively caters to. They focus on fresh ingredients, farm-to-table.

As I read through everything you were looking for I was like Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ would be perfect! This rustic location is extremely romantic and the complete opposite of that guady look you were talking about. When I was researching I wanted something unique and different and when I visited Waterloo I instantly fell in love. Jeffery A. Miller Catering provides all the food which I can tell you firsthand is absolutely amazing and is farm to table. There are several different indoor locations for the ceremony and reception and there is also a bridal cottage for you and your girls to get ready in that is super adorable. The location is secluded but there are multiple hotels five minutes away which was perfect for us because we had many guests come from out of state and they provide the shuttles and everything. I highly suggest going to one of their open houses to try the food and see the space, you will not be disappointed.

I have to second (or is third?) the recommendation for JAM - we're using them for our wedding in PA and are so excited -- just over a month out now!

In addition to Waterloo, check out Bishop Farmstead. It's one of their newer venues and sounds just like what you are looking for. It's a 1932 vintage and rustic venue with up space for 200. Not the shore, but its set on it's own 12 acres, so plenty space. Jeffery Millers food is great and fresh, so you'll definitely get something fall themed and unique for your October date.

    Check them out!
