Venue flipping

Monique, on May 10, 2019 at 8:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
Hi everyone, wanted to get your thoughts on flipping the venue. Our venue can have a max of 120 people and they have offered to either flip the room for us or to just have the tables already set up during the ceremony and move them slightly after the ceremony. The venue is a historic building and actually has a tour that guests can take through the building but no where other than the room for them to go. Would you do the flip or no? Have you done a room flip? Decemeber wedding. (Probably not the best time of year to send everyone outside 🤣) I am leaning towards no flip but I would love outside opinions.

If they have no designated place to go during the flip, I would advise against it. You don't really want to have people standing to the sides watching. However, if it works for your venue, you gotta do what you gotta do!

I plan to flip our venue.
But I also plan on doing a row by row "dismissal"
    Then family pictures.
    Flipping tables during family pictures.
A grand exit as we get in a vehicle to go take wedding photos and return after the reception begins 2.5 hours later.
There is a small room that can accommodate maybe 75 people.
We expect most people will head home for a couple hours to give kiddos an afternoon nap, head to a bar for some pre reception cocktails, or run a couple errands.

    Hey Monique!

If your venue doesn't have a specific location for your guests to hang out and mingle while you flip the venue, I would recommend against it. You don't want your guests to feel like you want to get them out of the way while the venue is set up, especially if they can't go for a walk around the grounds, etc.

I certainly don't think it is anything to worry about if the reception tables are ready to be moved in after the ceremony.

I hope this is helpful to you!

Yes thank you. There is a tour they can take of the building. The building itself is a maze of many rooms. I guess They could choose a room to hang out in? Lol I am On the fence.
