Venue doesn't allow alcohol?

Olivia , on April 11, 2016 at 8:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Im getting married at a small, beautiful park. The ceremony and reception are both outside. Its a small budget wedding, but I did plan on providing wine, beer, etc. When I read the venues rules, it said alcohol wasn't allowed. Simply my question is, should I make a signature drink and bring some alcoholic drinks anyways? Or do a dry wedding? Ive heard dry weddings aren't favored..

I would have to say stay dry or pay the fine. Maybe you can go for cocktails afterwards.

I would stick to the rules and maybe have a signature nonalcoholic drink.

I would not do something illegal just to "not have a dry wedding". Either change your venue (maybe just have your ceremony at the park and then choose a reception hall for reception) or keep the wedding dry.

If a guest asks, where's the alcohol, and you tell them "the park wouldn't allow it" and they still get mad, then they're just an ass.

If it's at a park in the middle of the day, I think you're safe without alcohol as long as you have an assortment of drinks - teas, lemonades, etc.

If it's a state park and you bring alcohol - you might get arrested. Keep that in mind.

Ummmm don't break the law. Change venue or have a dry wedding.

Also why are you just finding this out? Your wedding is a month and a half away.

I'd move the venue honestly. How did you not know this when you booked?

Our state parks allow alcohol if you pay for police detail. Ask about it.

Are you saying you didn't read the venue rules before signing the contract????? I'm sorry, but that's a big fail on your part.

Do not violate the rules. Most likely you would be violating the law if you did. That aside, it's rude to break the venue's rules anyway. If you offered your home to host someone's party and set a no-smoking rule, would you appreciate the attendants ignoring you? If you don't want to be limited to their rules you should move to a different venue.

Another vote for finding another venue. I don't get how they book weddings with no alcohol allowed.

You could get in a lot of trouble. A park is city property.

Parks are usually no-alcohol. Thought about doing ours in park but no-alcohol is a big no for FH
