Venue Cost

Amy, on August 14, 2020 at 11:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Has anyone asked their venue to lower the cost? I know I know this is a bit out there. But if you're dream venue is slightly out of budget, and you don't want to budge, it wouldn't hurt to ask, would it?

Background: we're planning on renting an estate (US destination wedding) Monday night-Friday morning with the wedding being Wednesday. The estate itself has its normal nightly accommodations fee and the event fee is separate. The fees do not include anything extra, just exclusive use of the property. Thanks!

It never hurts to try to negotiate a little bit! My sister and her husband negotiated with their venue - the venue didn't lower the price, but instead the venue ended up including a lot of extras (upgraded chairs, late night snack, uplighting, etc) at no additional cost.

As the saying goes, “If you don’t ask... the answer is always no.” So, go for it!! Best wishes🤞🏽

Yup! We negotiated our site fee.

    I’ve also negotiated with VRBOs.

We didn't need to since the sales coordinator decided to let us book lower than the minimum, but it doesn't hurt to ask & all they can say is 'no'. I say go for it, you could get a nice deal out of this.

    You can always ask.
I was going suggest negotiating be excluding some items. If all that is included is the use of the property, and you reduce the time you’re using it.
Also I know depending on time of year some venues will give a discount for off season. You can also plan a weekday wedding if that will get the price down.

Oops I thought you said Wednesday to Sunday renting with the wedding on Saturday. So the last part of my PP is not applicable. Sorry

Normally that would require them to personalize the contract which most places won’t do. BUT with that being said my venue is very expensive I try to add stuff from things they are additional to make me feel better on the price we are paying.

I would ask: “Is there something that you can throw in to sweeten the deal since we are booking the estate for 5days?”

It’s definitely worth it to ask, the worst that can happen is they say no. I was able to get my venue to take $1000 off of everything just by having a conversation with the owner and I asked him what could be done. It was worth it for me!
