Venue concerns

Destiny, on August 27, 2019 at 1:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
The parks in our town only do reservations per year so we cant reserve for our may 2020 wedding until January of 2020 how would you feel about this? Parks are our only option

If parks are your only option, you don't really have a choice but to wait. I would say get a list of a few parks you like and then wait until January and call your first pick ASAP so you are the first one inline for that date. If for whatever reason it is booked then go to your next pick. Also did you tell them it was for a wedding? If not I would call back and explain it to them, they might give you an exception.

I mean, it's not great, but if they're you're only option, this isn't something you can do anything about. I would make sure to zero in on the exact space you want and find out the exact procedures for renting well in advance. Then, make sure you are at the office first thing on January 2, 2020. The good thing is that no one else can reserve it either.

Can you maybe go to a different, neighboring town that does book ahead?

The biggest issue I see is then trying to book other vendors. The general rule is that you don't have a date until you have a venue, so booking other vendors before the venue can be risky.

Ah that's ok. It gives you plenty of time for invitations but not too much time for other things but it's not impossible. My friend planned a wedding in three months so it's def doable.

If it's your only option, it's your only option. I think booking other vendors is going to be your biggest struggle, but you could at least find vendors you're interested in and keep in touch with them so you know their available dates when you book the park. Or try to talk to the parks department and see if there's any way you can get preference on booking and/or see if there are any dates that are already unavailable due to town functions or something similar.

I would definitely have backups just in case the parks fall through. As long as you get a park booked asap in January, I think you'll be okay!

I would also look into neighboring towns to see what was also available. Each town/city has their own rules. An extra few minutes drive could save you peace of mind.

Also check your towns website. Our has places listed under local amenities that are available to rent that I never knew about.
