Venue clean up at end of night

Taylor, on January 29, 2022 at 12:53 PM Posted in Planning 3 11
If a venue says you have it until X time on your wedding day does that usually include clean up? Or is that what time you can have your ceremony until? We’re getting married on a Sunday and we only get the venue until 10. I can’t imagine we have to finish our reception early enough to be done cleaning up by 10?

This really depends on the venue. Our rental hours didn’t include set up or tear down as the venue did those things on their own outside of our time allotted. If you have a venue in mind, I would ask them before you sign a contract.

This varies by venue. Will the venue staff be tearing down/cleaning up after your event? If so, then they should do this after your reception ends at 10. If you are responsible for cleaning up after yourselves, I would definitely reach out to your venue to see how they handle the timing of that. Some venues will require you to be out and the room back to its original condition by the end of your rental time, others will just require the event end and guests leave by that time then give you additional time after to clean up, and others will actually allow you to clean up the following day.

Unfortunately, if it's a community center/hall/park type venue then you need to have it cleaned up and be out of the facility by 10:00.

Check with the venue before you sign any contracts. That should be one of the things you ask when you first shop for venues. Some include setup/tear down in your allotted block of time and others don’t. Not all venues have staff on hand to immediately step in to setup/tear down.

Our venue requires that we're all cleaned up and out by 12am. So if you have to do it yourself and they give you a time, I think that includes clean up.

For sure double check with the venue. It may take awhile to to the cleanup. Hopefully, they will give you time to do it, but not all venues do.

We had an all day/12hr rental period though. So we had plenty of time for set up and clean up. We ended the reception at 9 and we had until 10 I think to get everything cleaned up. Our coordinator cleaned what she could as we went. My parents stayed after we left to help finish up. They said it went super quick.

Our venue said we need to be finished by 11:00 pm, not including cleanup. But we’re also staying at the venue overnight, so we have until 11:00 am the next day to be fully cleaned and out of there.
