Venue Availability

Marlin, on November 18, 2020 at 10:12 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 8
Hi All! I’m feeling an enormous amount of stress because I can’t find a venue that has availability for next year. If they have open dates, it’s either for a Sunday, winter time or early afternoon. I want to get married btw late August and October but not really finding any venue. I’m recently engaged and very much want to get married next year but realllly don’t want a winter wedding (some limited availability there). My fiancé does really if he has a winter wedding but I do, lol.

Anyone know of a hidden gem of venue or has recommendations on what I should do!? Preferably in NYC area or Long Island.

Check out non-traditional venues, such as aquariums, libraries, museums, local parks, community center halls, etc. Unfortunately, many of the traditional venues are booked because of so many people postponing from 2020, but the non-traditional venues will likely have better availability, and may be just as beautiful (and might even be cheaper in some cases).

    Hello,

I'm not from the area but I do know with COVID a lot of 2020 brides have rescheduled their wedding to next year on top of the original 2021 brides so it's pretty difficult to squeeze a wedding in if you're just getting engaged. If you are set on next year it might be a suggestion to seek out venues that are non-traditional (not really used for weddings) you might get lucky and find something you like.

I would advise picking a date in 2022. Because even if you find and fall in love with a non-traditional venues, you will struggle finding the rest of your vendors as well. I had picked my venue in Jan. 2020 and as I was looking for vendors (in March/April), I was already having people be booked up for my date (which is why I quickly booked the rest of my vendors). It will be a lot of stress and you might feel better if you just hold off.

Adding to the theme of non traditional venues, depending on the size of your wedding, I recommend looking at restaurants that offer events or have private spaces as well, and that you consider aesthetically pleasing.

Have you checked out the Venues tab, above? Try cross-referencing it with the Knot and Google.

Restaurants may be very anxious to pick up business, but they do tend to charge a lot to take up their entire dining room on Saturdays.

You could also look into theatres - they are going to be scrambling for revenue after all this, and may be open to hosting a wedding.

Hi there! - this probably isn't super helpful but the Madison Hotel Conservatory (beautiful, giant green house venue!) in Morristown, NJ (direct trains from Penn Station to the venue! its so easy!) has Saturday, June 19th available! Check out their reviews on here for more info on the venue Smiley winking

I would check again if you haven’t found somewhere. I have seen a lot of brides cancelling their dates for next summer/fall already. I believe my venue (flowerfield) had a cancellation in October 30,2021.
