Venue address on invites

Nicole, on July 6, 2019 at 5:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
Hi I was wondering does the venue and church address have to be on the wedding invitation or can I just put city and state? I prefer for it to have less wording but I’m not sure what is considered traditional

You should definitely have the full addresses

Ours didn’t have the full address. We had very formal invitations and our stationary designer told us the full address doesn’t go on a formal invite. We had shuttles take most of the guests and everyone uses gps on their phone so we had no issues.

Every invite to a wedding that I’ve ever gotten has always had the venue address on it. We also put the venues address on our invites. Sure, you could say that guests will use gps, but you’ll always have an older couple who gets confused by technology, and it’s just more helpful for them to have the actual address rather than have to try and look it up.

We're including the venue address on the invitation. We've always brought the invitation with us when traveling to weddings.

Traditionally, addresses were not listed on invitations - just the name of the venue along with city and state. I did very traditional, classic invitations and did not put the address. I didn’t like the look of it. I did, however, include an insert with the full address as well as info about my hotel block.

It’s true that some elderly guests may not use GPS, but what are the chances that your guests are actually going to bring the invitation with them to the wedding anyway? Sadly, many will be lost or thrown away before the big day even arrives.

We had the address on ours, it fit the layout and we really didn’t even think about it. We had an info card too that described it a little more in detail (the venue has 2 barns so we wanted to make sure guests knew where to go). The venue also said that people have had issue with GPS in the past, so we wanted to tell them exactly what to put in

We didn't put the address on our invites BUT we made sure that the venue couldn't be mistaken for another location - for example, if you are getting married at St Mary's Church, make sure that there isn't another church with a similar name, like St. Mary Byzantine church.

If you think the invitation looks too crowded with the full address, you can always add an insert with the address.

Full address for sure! If you’re worried about the invite looking wordy, maybe see if you can include the exact address on a separate details card with directions, parking info, how to get to the reception venue, etc.

The invite should have addresses, save the dates can have just city and state.
