Vendors won’t communicate

Angie, on February 19, 2020 at 7:31 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 11
I’m so frustrated right now. My wedding is 60 days from today and I still don’t have a contract for hair and makeup from the artist I chose. I have been waiting since December. She leaves my messages on read or doesn’t respond until days later and promises the contract but still nothing. Now it’s prom season and I’m having a difficult time finding anyone. She’s been pretty flaky about other appointments I’ve had as well and I’m worried. What advice do any of you have and has anyone else had a similar experience?

Oh wow, I would be panicking! Personally, I would be reaching out to every reputable hair/make up artist in your area. If she cannot even be bothered to email you a contract, who’s to say she will even show up the day of your wedding?? I would start searching Google and Instagram for new vendors. I would also request recommendations on your social media page from your friends/family. WW also has a vendor finder section that may be helpful. So sorry you are going through this so close to your wedding!

I’d definitely try to find another HMUA. Lack of communication is major and something you don’t want to be worrying about, especially on your wedding day. Check Instagram hashtags for HMUA in your areas, the WeddingWire vendor tab, or even a local wedding FB group. Good luck!

Have you tried Thumbtack? It’s pretty helpful in looking for vendors. It definitely sounds like you should be looking for an alternative.

I don't have an officiant, photography, hair, or makeup contract. Didn't feel like it was necessary.
Maybe she's a little too laid back for contracts?

I would want someone else if she can't be relied on

I totally get the frustration. Mine put together a contract but never counter-signed it. She’s also pretty slow to respond to me but has at least always responded. But I don’t reach out to her often..maybe like 3 times since my trial a few months ago just to confirm what services Id need—but she never bailed on an appointment I had with her. If yours did that then yeah I agree I’d be very concerned as would find someone else.

Definitely tell her your concerns and look for someone else. Too risky in my opinion.

Yea, I was like "contract" what am I doing then. I don't think it's necessary. Bride, you may want to find someone else as formal as you she may be a not what you're looking for.

I’d be a little concerned if I were in your shoes.. 60 days out from my wedding was around when I did my trials and was sending my girl final numbers for who was getting services done. About a month out she had the schedule for the day of too and anytime I had questions her or her assistant got back to me quickly via phone or email (blush makeup & hair in Buffalo, NY—not sure where you are or anyone reading this, it they were amazing!!). I think it’s important for her to be in contact with you and not to leave you on read with your wedding coming up soon. Maybe start asking around or looking into other options? Or is it possible for you to stop into her salon and see what’s going on?

The contract wouldn’t worry me so much except she is the one who stated that she would need a signed contract and a deposit.
