Vendors not cashing checks.

lindseybee89, on February 12, 2018 at 12:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I sent a check to my mua as well as some of the other BM and my mom for services on the big day, she said it was no problem to send early because everything would be paid for the day of.

my mom and I send her a check 5 weeks ago and she still hasn't cashed it.

some of the bridesmaid sent a few weeks as well.

I asked the MUA if she received three weeks ago and she said she did and would send me a receipt. nothing has been cashed and no receipt has been given.

what do you think I should do? ask her if shes planning on cashing them or ask if she can cash them? It seems kinda rude but its terrible to have check money stuck in your account for a long time? not just for me but the BM too

Yeah I'd ask if she knew when she'd cash them. I mean its common courtesy to chash checks ASAP unless they are post dated. I mean... I would!? Especially if I was a MUA and that could go toward bills or something. She could just be busy but that is a long time to make them just sit there.

Do you not deduct the check from your running balance when you write it? If so, you know what your bank balance is and are in no danger of overspending.

I would politely email them, and ask them to cash it. I had to do that for the deposit on my venue. People forget

I don't have a check book, but I have a checking account I have been using just for wedding stuff.

I cant speak for how the other BM manager their bills.

Checks are seriously the worst. The fact they are still being used is infuriating to me - online payments are so much easier. Checks take forever to mail, bank is never open during non-business hours so it's so inconvenient to cash them, then they take 100 years to clear.

When I was searching for vendors, being able to pay via PayPal or something online was one of the things I required before hiring.

I would send her a message and ask her to cash them, as it's messing up your budget at a quick glance and aint nobody got time for dat when you're paying wedding vendors left and right. Maybe even ask if she would prefer PayPal so you can cancel the stupid checks.

I feel like checks got better with online apps.

I never deposit checks at the bank, I can take a picture with my phone and it will be deposited in one business dya.

Yeah, that feature is probably one of the best inventions, but sadly not every bank has it. I use a small local bank (because big banks charge you fees for everything) and they JUST updated their app with the check deposit feature about 2 months ago.

Man I would be like "it's been a while since I sent you my check and it has not been deducted from my account. I'm sorry but I had other vendors to pay, so i advise you not to cash that check. It will bounce." 😂😂😂
