Vendor meals necessary with a buffet?

Do we need to provide designated vendor meals if we're having a buffet? I'm thinking of ordering our exact guest count, 95, and hoping the extra margin or the portions for no-shows covers our 5 vendor meals. Is this a good idea? My parents are eccentric and would be fairly upset if there are a lot of leftovers at the end of the night. And they would complain about it to me endlessly.

If, and I mean IF they let you take the leftovers home, just freeze what you can.

If not, have them donate it to the local shelter.

Let your vendors eat the same meal, especially if it's the same cost as a sandwich.

You have to include them in your head count. Most venues will give you a discounted rate for vendor meals. My venue does 1/2 off vendor meals and they eat the same as my guests. I think it's really awful to have these people working for you 8+ hours and you give them a lousy sandwich while everyone else is eating steaks....

Depends on the buffet and options. it you have a lot of choices, there will probably be leftovers. if you only have 5 dishes, there probably won't be. And the time of your wedding. And the number of vendors attending your ceremony. We only had our photographer, the rest were staff provided by the venue, so there was no need for us to include them in our count.

ETA: just ask your venue or caterer the way they do it.

Yeah, I already warned my mom that taking home leftovers may not be allowed. But she's going to try anyway, and she'll throw a fit if they don't let her. Luckily, our venue and our caterer are separate, so the venue employees may not be able to stop her.

We made sure that our vendors got to eat the same thing as our guests. They are working their butt off for us so I felt they should enjoy a nice hot meal just like everyone else.

ETA: We added them in the head count.

My sister was able to get the leftovers from her wedding. It was catered by a restaurant that also has a catering business. But the caterers handled all the food, packed it up and stored it in the fridge and she went and got it the next day. You need to account for vendor meals, if they are eating from the buffet they need to be added into the buffet count.

I am serving buffet but arrange my vendors to get plated meal of their choice. Why? Because last thing I want is them waiting in line for food.
