Veils!

Samantha, on October 17, 2021 at 11:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
52 days until our wedding and I'm still indecisive about my veil. How long did you, or will you, leave your veil in before taking it off?

I only plan to wear mine for the ceremony and some of the photos afterward. I hadn’t planned on wearing one at all, but just fell in love with some of the beautiful photo ops with cathedral veils, so I caved and bought one. For the insane amount I spent on my veil, I have to say it’s not worth it! I wish I had just purchased a simple veil for under $100 🤦🏼‍♀️

I spent $250 on my veil since it was custom made for my dress. I felt obligated to buy it since other veils didn't seem to go with it. I figure I'll wear it again for our 5 year anniversary/vow renewal! Are you wearing yours for your first dance?

I was in a similar situation! My dress really doesn’t look good with most veils, so I had one custom made for a whopping $600+ (and tbh, I’m not even completely sold with how it looks with it either 🤦🏼‍♀️) We aren’t doing any spotlight dances, but if we were I definitely wouldn’t be wearing it due to the length- I’d be stepping all over it! I’m going to remove it after our posed photos with our families and replace it with a headpiece for the rest of the photos and the reception.

I got a fingertip length veil from Amazon for less than $40. I wore it for pictures and the ceremony but took it off for the reception.

I had a cathedral veil and only wore it for preceremony photos and the ceremony, taking it off immediately after. It was also stupid expensive (over $500) and not worth it

Ugh. Don’t you wish you could go back in time and not get caught up in the hype and just have that money back?? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Veils seem overrated but we get swept up in the moment of having one I think. I love the way it looks with my dress but I'm definitely not wearing it all night.

I'm planning on keeping mine on through the ceremony and maybe some photos after, but then will remove it for the rest of the time. I know a lot of you are saying you spent a lot and didn't think it was worth it - I don't plan on spending too much on mine, but think you guys need to give yourself a break, because many elements within weddings seem overpriced for what you get, after all, and you don't know what you don't know! Plus, you could easily be in the opposite situation of having not bought one, and ending up regretting it and wishing you had.

YES!! I got talked into mine by a salesgirl during a fitting. I had no idea how much it cost until we got to the register! So dumb on my part and totally wish I had turned to Amazon or Etsy for something just as beautiful and cheaper! Mine did have beautiful bead/sequin/stonework on the edges—but still not worth it!

I borrowed my veil from my sister-in-law and we added a layer of pink in it to match my dress. I wore it through the ceremony and the photos and think I wore it for a while that night too. It was a short finger tip veil. Smiley smile

I took mine off a little after we had our grand entrance into the reception. It was in the way and I was hot lol

I wore a veil for our elopement and removed it immediately after we did all the formal stuff we planned (vows, cake cutting, first dance) - it was beautiful but just not "me" and I was so much more comfortable once I took it off, and I like all of the "non-veil" photos much better than the ones of me with a veil.

I only wore my veil for photos. We got married outside and veils outside just don't work well.
