Veils - what does yours look like?

Lexi70, on June 17, 2021 at 11:39 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I'm back and forth on what length I want for my veil. What is everyone doing? And what does yours look like? My dress is lace with a pearl/rhinestone sash/belt. I'm trying to decide if a veil with lace would be "too much". Or maybe some pearls around the edge? Or plain. I'm all over the place. How did you decide?

I'm not planning on wearing one, but if you had a photo of your dress I'd probably be able to help you better!

I've seen photos of veils with pearls dotted all over, which I think's super pretty! But if your dress has that on the sash AND lace, I'd go with a plain veil so it's not too much. I won't be much help on the length just because that's something I'd base your dress style on!

I’m in the same boat but going back and forth on whether I want a veil or not. It’s going to be an outdoor ceremony (if weather permits) and from everything I’m reading could be a pain to have a veil. If taking the veil route, not sure what length to go with either. Do you have a pic of your dress that we could see to give an opinion what length works best?

I am making myself a veil cape! It is going to be made from extra fabric I ordered from my dress. It is glitter tulle! So excited!

Beautiful!! I'd def. go with a plain veil then so that your dress is the star of the show!

Have any of you purchased one from Etsy? Seems like they have great prices.

I did! I bought a drape veil from Etsy - the shop was Noon on the Moon. It's beautiful. Super soft, the color I expected, and packaged nicely.

Veil cape sounds like a great idea. Can anyone share their veil cape pictures?

Beautiful dress. My vote is either a plain veil or one with lace trim around the bottom to match your dress. Etsy has shops that will send you tulle and appliqué samples so you can match the color.

My dress is similar and I’m doing a floor length plain veil and it’s beautiful!

Beautiful!! And very similar to my dress from DB. They recommended a shorter all lace veil for me that has the fringe edges that match the dress if that makes sense. I was going to not do a veil, then I tried the dress on with it, and it just felt right.

My dress has a ton of chantilly lace and I went with a cathedral length veil with lace around the edges and it worked perfectly with my dress! I think it really depends on the dress and what looks best when you have them both on. In my experience I feel like my veil and my dress looked like they were made for each other (they weren’t). But when it’s right you will know it’s right as cliche as that sounds

I feel like with the belt you wouldn’t want to create any other horizontal lines across yourself that a lace, ribbon, or pearl edging might add. You don’t want anything competing with the belt or covering it. Those are just my thoughts though.

I’m wearing a dress with a lace bodice but plain satin skirt, and I’m completely at a loss as to which kind of veil to wear! I’m going to see how my hair trial goes and try and pick a veil after that.

I wish I has a picture but I'm actually wearing my mother's cathedral veil. It has lace around the sides and I plan on adding some type of sparkle to add my style to it.

I’m doing a cathedral length veil cause I’m obsessed with the shots photographers grab with the veils. Plus I personally really felt like a bride when I put one on, but a beautiful hair comb or accessory would be just as gorgeous! My bridal stylist recommended Etsy for veils, so much cheaper than going through a salon!

I'd go with a plain veil that's slightly longer than the dress so that the lace is the star of the show, but still has drama due to the length.

Here is the kind of look I want for my veil:

I also agree that a veil cape would look amazing with your dress and emphasize the pretty back.

My dress has a highly embellished bodice, and tulle skirt, so I'm going with a plain fingertip length veil so it doesn't compete. Your dress is beautiful!

I wanna be extra dramatic so I'm getting a cape instead. It's my 2nd wedding so I'm nixing the veil.
