Veils ? - To cover your face or not?

Cierra, on July 2, 2022 at 11:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 12
Hello everyone!
I’ve been feeling rather indecisive when it comes to how I would like to look on the big day. I know I want a veil, but I’m not sure about it covering my face. I think both looks are very pretty but I’m not sure. What did you ladies do ? ( or going to do, for those in my boat with weddings upcoming )

I'm not covering my face. I have my hair trial on Tuesday, so I'll probably decide for sure then, but I think I want my veil under my bun so I still have the veil look but show off my hair that I'm paying a lot of money for too

I’m going to wear a veil for the ceremony, but I’m not going to cover my face. It’s cathedral length, and the clip will be placed above my updo. A couple of things to ponder: 1) if it’s hot, it might stick to your face, 2) if it’s windy, it also might stick to your face, 3) what would you like to see in your photos of you walking down the aisle?, 4) do you desire that moment when your future hubby lifts the veil?, 5) do you want to be able to see each other’s facial expressions when you’re starting to walk down the aisle? Not sure if this helps, but maybe it will. 😁 Best wishes to you and your best friend on your special day!! 💗🙏🏻 God bless

I had a cathedral veil. I believe I asked my husband his preference, if he wanted to lift it or not. He said no, so I didn’t add a blusher. I didn’t care either way.

I chose a cathedral length veil that does not cover my face. Tbh, I had initially wanted a dramatic drop veil, but my fiancé didn’t like them and didn’t want to worry about having to lift it and possibly mess up my hair or make up, then get it to lay back properly (we’ve all seen the pictures and videos of drop veils and blusher veils that are sticking up or popping out weirdly). Plus, we are having an outdoor wedding, and I’m sure having that material over my face would get hot and uncomfortable, and I don’t want to risk perspiring and ruining my make up.

I wore my mother's veil and wore the blusher over my face until I reached the end of the aisle, then H lifted it before we did vows, etc. You can still see my face in my walking down the aisle photos, as it was only one layer. Our wedding was outside and I had no problems with sticking - and our wedding was outside. in July. in Alabama. You really have to decide what works best for you though.

Mine didn't cover my face. I saw it as more of a headpiece. I think it depends if you want a more traditional or modern look. There are also some cultures or religions where they cover the bride's face for something specific.

If you're torn, you could do a birdcage veil! Technically covers your face, but your face would still be visible. Personally, I'm indecisive about a veil, but I know I don't want it over my face.

I think the blusher veil adds to the mystic of our wedding day. But it is one of our choice and not much reliant on traditions.

Here is one link that seems helpful:

Don't you want to see your own wedding? Nix the face cover.

I wore a cathedral veil but I didn’t cover my face. It was a personal preference bc I didn’t want/or like anything covering my face. Depends on what you want and the look that you are going for (traditional or modern)

I did not have a veil covering my face. I consider myself a feminist and I don't like the historical implications of women covering their faces during a wedding ceremony.
