Veils for beach wedding?

Rogue Bride, on April 29, 2013 at 8:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Whenever I see a bride on the beach with a veil, it's flying in her face or right off her head. I always assumed I would have a veil, but it's not super important to me. Do you think beach brides are better off with flowers in their hair or maybe headpieces? I think flowers braided into a half-up do might be nice...

Flowers or a headpiece would look lovely

(flowers and a half do could be beachy)

however if you still want a veil what about a birds nest one perhaps?

I'm doing a beach wedding sans veil, but that's because of personal preference. instead i'm going to do an updo with pearl-ended bobby pins and a flower in my hair Smiley smile veils are purely a personal choice, if you want one, go for it but just make sure you have a back-up plan if you have a veil and the wedding day turns out to be a little too breezy/blustery!

I have a veil for my beach wedding but if it is extra windy on the wedding day I will axe the veil for flowers.

On the beaches near me, there is almost always a breeze. If the bride is wearing a veil, I turn her & groom so veil is streaming out behind her instead of blowing into his face.

Bird cage veil would be nice. Flowers, combs, fancy pins also work well.

I had a veil for my beach wedding. It was a little windy but not crazy. My MOH tucked my veil into the back of my dress. Not all the way, just a little so it wouldn't fly around.

I am not getting married on a beach, but I am getting married outdoors. I was thinking about trying those veil weights, just in case its windy. But I think I may just make my own, i think its just 2 magnets with the veil inbetween and maybe glue a rhinestone on the outside one. I have found veil weihjts for like 50 for 6. Or something like that. Can definately make them cheaper!

I'm having a beach wedding and will forego the normal veil. I think a beautiful broach with flower and feather, gives a light feel with a lovely do. A birdcage veil is a great option with a long, flowing gown. These are my choices but I have to try them on and see what works best with my white and print dress.

Several of my Brides chose Birdcage Veils last season. I expect more this year. It is a great look. Most Brides do forgo the veil on the beach, where the majority of my ceremonies are.

HOWEVER - I have to tell you, that we have captured some really fantastic photos of veils blowing in the ocean breezes. Very romantic and gorgeous.

As one Bride above said, it really is a personal choice.

I'm getting married at the beach, and I'm going full cathedral! I'm making my own, so I might change my mind and go elbow length instead. I'm putting rhinestones on it and hoping that the weight of the rhinestones will be enough. If not, I'm going to try to find some tiny weights to hide in it somehow like Almost Mrs. Wifey is doing.

It's been my experience that there's usually a breeze at the beach but don't let that deter you from wearing a veil because there's a product made especially for the purpose of keeping your veil under control. They're called Veil Weights. They're basically a two-pieced item where one side is a pretty Mother of Pearl medallion with a magnet-backing and the other side is a magnet. The pretty side goes on the outside of your veil. They also come in Rhinestone and they each come in a set of 6. Your veil will still have movement but it will stay under control. I know that Jewels-by-Jan has them and I've talked to brides who have used them and they loved them!
