Yesterday when i picked up my dress i bought a veil. Not at all my goal but i was complaining to the sales girl that i had trouble feeling bridal. I felt like my dress is very me but not like "whoa hey i'm the bride". I liked the look of it on and it really tied it together and hid my areas that made me uncomfortable but here i am today having major regret. FH goes either way on veil and thinks that going without is more me.

My mom and i have a joint account for small wedding purchases as she's offered to pay for every part of my look the day of and i think part of the regret is that i feel like it was a bad choice of spending her money. If if do wear it, it'll be worn for maybe 3 hours and i think the cost doesn't justify it. The kicker is now that i can't return it and all sales are final. I know worst case is i can sell it and i would probably sell it after anyway.

Anyone have veil regret?

My mom gave me her veil to wear at my wedding. I love it. Its gorgeous and timeless chapel length with a mantilla lace border and appliques. My only hang-up is the superstition about reusing veils from marriages that end in divorce. I love the veil, so Im going to use it. I just wish it didnt have bad juju connected to it.

No veil regret here. You can repurpose it into a Christening/dedication dress for your future daughter too.

I'm hoping i fall in love with it again at my fitting in 2 weeks. I will be bringing a friend and styling it how i'd like and not the way she poofed it out and made it look like a cape.

I love my veil! Originally when I went in to look at dresses I told the consultant that I did not want a strapless dress, or anything super poufy and no veil. Well the dress I fell in love with is strapless and poufy. Then my mom told me to just try on a veil and I absolutely loved it lol.

You can always sell it and give the money back to your mom, sure you'll lose some money off it but it's better than nothing.

I have always wanted a long cathedral veil. I tried on a fingertip veil with my dress and fell absolutely in love. However, it was $200.00 and I just couldn't justify to myself spending so much for a few hours. But I was so obsessed with that specific veil and just had to have it. So I went on eBay and got the same exact veil with the tags on it (unfortunately the young lady I bought it from canceled her wedding) but I will wear it with honor. After all how many chances does a girl get to wear a veil in her life.

Yes! I bought it at the same time that I bought my dress. It was $155 - and now, after reading these forums, I realize I could have gotten it much much cheaper elsewhere. I didnt even love the veil. I "liked" it. Now I'm stuck with it because I wasn't thinking straight at the time and didn't do my proper research. Definitely a bridal newbie moment. Oh well! What's another $150 bucks in wedding planning, right? Ugh.
