Veil Pricing

Charlotte, on January 19, 2020 at 2:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21
Hey everyone!

How much is too much for a veil? I'm curious because I tried on a veil that I absolutely loved today. It was long and sparkled and it was everything! Buuuuuut it was $280.
I know I can try Etsy but I'm worried about it matching my dress 100%. What's your veil budget or how much did you spend on one?

Only you know your budget and what’s too expensive for you. I’ve seen veils priced much higher and much lower.

I personally don't think it's too much but my fiance thinks I should limit myself and spend around $100, which I'm not sure I can do if I want a cathedral veil 😅

If in your budget and if it matches your dress perfectly, it might be worth it. I just wanted a sheer long veil and I bought a beautiful soft one for only $35 on Etsy (Bridals by Teri).

Unless you are getting a veil that has a lace trim, your veil doesn't need to be a 100% match to your dress because the tulle is translucent so it will work with your dress unless its a stark contrast. A bright white veil won't look right paired with an ivory dress, but many of the "soft ivory" or "light ivory" veils look fine with the various shades of bridal ivory out there.

I got a veil on Amazon for $13 (just a plain tulle fingertip veil with no embellishments) and have been looking at some on Etsy in the $30-$120 range (depending on length) that had either hand applied pearls or beading and were really pretty. The Etsy sellers I was looking at showed swatches of the veils and had descriptions and recommendations so you could be confident in ordering the right color. If you order a veil on Etsy from a reputable seller and the color doesn't match, you should be able to return/exchange it, just read their policies first.

There are cathedral length veils on Amazon for less than $20 that have many positive reviews. If you have Amazon Prime, you have free returns, so there really isn't any harm in purchasing one to test out. Worst case you send it back for a full refund. Best case you have a cathedral length veil you love that only cost you $20.

Personally every veil I saw in a store was ridiculously overpriced. I'm not paying a hundred plus dollars for a piece of tulle with a comb attached to it that I'm only going to wear for a couple hours at most. But some brides spend more on their veils than I did on my dress, so to each their own!

Also keep in mind veils are generally super delicate, especially longer ones. I know some brides think they'll just resell everything after their wedding to recoup their money but I think that's easier done with some things than others, and I wouldn't use that logic to justify splurging on a veil.

I bought my first veil from jjshouse. It was 68 dollars. Cathedral length with appliques (sorry if spelled wrong) and metal comb. Beautiful and well made. When I tried it on at David's Bridal with my dress during accessory shopping, the girls thought it was the 400 dollar veil they sell. Unfortunately I exchanged my dress for a newer one from the spring 2020 collection and bought a different veil. Since I'm on a time crunch, I bought a new veil for 200 at David's. If I had more time, I would of ordered from jjshouse. A lot more bang for your buck

I bought my veil on Poshmark. It was brand new with tags and sold for over $200 but I got it for $25. Maybe look on Poshmark!

I spent 48 dollars on mine that I'm sewing myself to get exactly what I want. 5 dollars tulle and the rest is my lace detailing. Couldn't find something that matched exactly what I wanted and I'm super jealous of everyone that did for under 100!

I wasn't willing to pay more than about $50. I got a chapel length veil from Amazon for only $20 and it's perfect.

Mine was $275 from the bridal salon I bought my dress at. I'm an idiot though because I was having my "moment" with my dress and have never tried on a veil before. They put on a veil on me and I instantly said yes. I did try on another veil that was very similar, but had small rhinestones on the edges, but was $500 so I went for the cheaper one. I didn't even think or know how much veils actually cost, then I see forums on here where brides got theirs for wayyy cheaper and they look almost the same as the one I got. Oh well, I still love mine.

I didn't want to spend hardly any money on mine. I was planning to not have one but i checked ebay and found the perfect one. I know I wanted a simple veil to not take away from the dress. I found a 3M cathedral veil for 2.99. Since i got a $5 coupon from ebay so i just payed the taxes, which were .17 cents. I got it and love it. Its exactly what i was looking for.

Gorgeous!! I feel like I don't really have a set budget for mine either, but I do kind of have to agree that I don't want it to be super expensive. I've found one on Etsy I love for around $200.

I haven't tried eBay yet!! I'm looking for a veil that sparkles, similar to the one I tried on in store so I'll have to see what I can find that comes close!
