Veil or no veil?

Mrs.cahenzli, on April 12, 2018 at 2:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
Hey what are everyone's thoughts about having a veil? We are non religious and non traditional. Just deciding if I should save some money or not.

I love a beautiful veil. It completes the total bride look. If it's not your thing, it's okay to skip it. You won't look any less of a bride if you didn't go with a veil. Just be you.

When I tried on my veil I fell in love with the complete look. I ended getting a cathedral veil which I never imagined myself getting. My suggestion is try them on and see if you like the look.

I'm doing flowers in my hair, no veil. We aren't very traditional or religious either.

FH and I aren't very traditional or religious either, but I'm still doing a veil. It doesn't have to be a religious thing and is really only thought to be that way if it covers the face. A lot of people are skipping this traditional and opting for barrets, headbands, etc. So whatever you feel beautiful in and fits into your budget, I say go for it!

I think a veil is beautiful whether you’re religious or not because I’m not religious either but I’m thinking of maybe doing a veil. Not 100% since we’re doing a city hall wedding. But it’s all up to your decision on whether you want to do it! I do believe veils are so beautiful despite tradition, etc.

I think this is such a personal decision. I was pretty sure I didn't want a veil, but figured I'd try one anyway at the bridal salon. It was on my head for roughly four seconds. I made a face and shook my head, it was SO not me. But I do think veils are beautiful and I don't feel like I'm going to look any less bridal because I won't have one.

I wasn't going to wear one, since the Queen of Hearts probably doesn't have a veil. But then I bought a red one and it looks cool... so maybe? I'm making it a game day decision.

I got it for twelve bucks on eBay so no biggie either way.

I did a veil; however, I would try it on with your dress and see how you feel. I didn't feel 100% bridal until I put on the veil and that gave me FEELINGS. I did try one on with the blusher and I had a visceral NO NO NO reaction lol. So it's up to you.

I am not wearing one.. I love the back of my dress. However, I do go back and forth with this.. a veil just makes it feel more bridal, not that the white dress won't do that Smiley laugh

I'm skipping the veil! I have a casual, short outdoor ceremony and I just don't want one. I've never been super girly and just wouldn't feel "me" wearing one. So, I'm not going to. I will do some kind of hair piece still TBD.

I didn't wear one. I wasn't crazy about it when I tried them on. I found that they weren't flattering on me and that they were uncomfortable. I think veils look lovely on other brides, but it just wasn't the look I wanted. I wore an awesome headband instead.

Was 100% anti-veil. My hairdresser/cousins fiancée recommended to (she’s been married before). What really ultimately changed my mind though was those cute photos of the bride and groom under the veil. So I will be wearing a veil in two days lol. Just only for photos and the ceremony though. Definitely taking it off for the reception.

For me I didn't 100% feel like a bride until I tried the veil on, that is when I started to cry. I think it completes the bridal look. I have seen very pretty brides without veils so I think it is just based on how you feel.

I was certain I didn't want a veil, but when my dress came in I had a try on/accessorizing appt at the the shop and when I tried one on it just made me feel so bridal! I figured this is really the only opportunity to pull off wearing a veil so I decided to just go for it haha, my dress has kind of a lot going on, and I still want flowers in my hair, so I just went with a simple/unembellished fingertip length and now I'm pretty excited to wear it Smiley laugh

    - also, we are not religious at all either

I had a long veil for ceremony and short one for reception and I got them inexpensive from aliexpress but I also know amazon has inexpensive ones too. We are not religious either. I wanted to wear veil because my wedding was the only time I would ever wear one plus it looks so beautiful.

I agree with previous posters that the veil makes everything feel bridal! I bought a plain veil that's a little longer than fingertip length and only spent $70 on it. I plan to wear it for about half of the pictures, the ceremony, and then remove it.

I think it's totally fine to skip it if it doesn't feel right for you, but I would highly recommend trying one or two on with your dress to give yourself the option!
