Veil options

Is there a rule of thumb for choosing your veil? I can’t decide what length to get. How did you all decide which veil was best for your dress?

I don’t think there’s a rule, just kind of personal preference. My dress has a beautiful open back, but my hair will be down so it will be covered anyway haha. So I just want a veil long enough to cover my hair. Probably elbow or fingertip length. Is there anything on your dress that you want to frame or highlight?

Ok, thank you for this. My dress has a nice sequined top I’d like to highlight. Maybe a long veil would look best

Yeah maybe something that stops just under the top part of the dress so people’s eyes stay up there instead of trickling down to look at the rest of the veil. Or if you do just a very simple, no lace or detailed one, any length might work. If you want anything on the veil or any sort of trim, I would keep it to where it falls just under the top part

Skirts with volume and layers look really nice in a cascade/waterfall cut of veil. It follows the shape of the skirt. Fingertip looks best with this cut. Ribbon edge is a nice detail to highlight the shape but you can do beading too.
A long chapel length veil also looks good with fuller dresses, it draws the eye down. Raw edge or embellishments look good with this veil, it’s pretty complimentary to many dresses.

I had my viel custom made in memory of my grandmother. It has Celtic knots and cross on it

My mom sold me on a veil and mine will be long, my dress is simple but beautiful so I can do a little extra with my accessories

I chose by ruling out my different options. I personally don't like the veils that only cover half your face. No real reason, just not a fan of how it looks. I thought the shoulder length ones were too poofy and I wanted a longer one. The train on my dress is absolutely stunning and I didn't want to cover it up with a veil so the chapel length one ruled out. So it's between elbow and fingertip. I'm waiting to see how my dress turns out with the alterations and I'll go from there ☺

I’m doing a cathedral veil! I love how dramatic they are! My dress is a wow factor so I wanted my veil to be also. 😊

I got a cathedral length veil as well, I love the drama and romance of a long veil. I also got a wide veil as I have a wide train.
