Veil length/style for a heavily detailed dress

Brittainy, on July 23, 2019 at 7:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
I’m having a conundrum. The back of my dress is very embellished and I’m not sure what length of veil to do. We are doing a mini-wedding in Vegas so the veil is only for the ceremony. I don’t plan to wear it in our photos. But I just have no clue what style or length I should go with. Other than I know I won’t be doing a birdcage veil. Help! Photos of dress below.

I would do a shoulder length veil so you can still see your beautiful dress detail and especially if you are only wearing it for a bit. Honestly you don’t have to wear a veil at all and could wear a really pretty hair piece or flower in your hair. Love your dress!!

I have a pretty tiara for my hair, maybe that and (by the wedding my hair will be really long) my hair down my back half up half down? I just don’t know. I’m not traditional but my family is.

My dress has a ton of detail, and I’m doing a cathedral veil! Cathedral veils are very dramatic so I think it embraces the details!

Fingertip is good, but I dunno, I was watching an old SYTTD episode and the bride was getting a Pnina (yawn!) but the consultant said the veil should go out 24 inches from the end of the train. 🤷‍♀️ I dunno, that seems kinda rediculous to me, but I think that sounds like a lot to spend if it's only for a short ceremony and no pictures...

Nothing longer than mid-length. Show the detail- -anything longer will cover it up and/or detract from it.

Hi Brittany! Your gown is absolutely gorgeous! I wouldn't want to cover up that beautiful dress either. I think I'd choose a fingertip veil with just one layer or possibly with a dainty lace, pearl, or both for a border. But then, if you're not going to wear it except for the wedding, maybe keep it simple??? How about a beautiful halo-type headpiece? That way, you could wear it all evening. Have fun looking for the perfect accessories! God bless you!

Yeah we are doing a party at a private table vip space in a nightclub. I plan to super glam my dress for it, halloween after all and wear big jewelry and a bigger headpiece, my FH is doing to have a brocade sleeveless Victorian jacket and a crown as well. King and queen for the night. I thought about buying a more lightweight dress and doing a goddess crown with it for the party, but I paid $3700 for my gown and I love it so much and I want to wear it all night. Lol

My dress has a detailed back and I chose a soft tulle cathedral veil. It’s clearer than the regular veils so I doesn’t cover as much. And you can still see the back. That’s not a great picture but you can see how see through the veil itself is.

Cathedral length illusion tulle with no embellishments lace or trim. The illusion tulle will allow your beautiful dress to shine through, and with no embellishments it wouldn't take away any of the attention from your dress. You want the length to be longer than the train. I think it wouldn't look good with it being fingertip, chapel or waltz length. Or you could do a birdcage but I'm not sure that would match the aesthetic of your dress.

Yay Lauren! Me too! I originally bought a fingertip length veil and later decided it wasn't dramatic enough. I felt like I was going for 1st communion lol! Now my gorgeous 2 tier cathedral length veil with scalloped embellished edge perfectly complements my dress. I'm so excited to walk down the aisle. Best wishes in your marriage!

HI, beautiful dress!!! My dress is actually pretty similar to yours, I feel like. They put me in a floor length, simple veil, with layers and I loved it! I feel like it gives it an extra pop without taking away attention from the beautiful details of the dress. Pic for reference, I didn't go with this veil exactly because it was almost the same price of the dress, but I am going to search for one similar in style. I plan on just using my veil for the ceremony. Good Luck!
