Veil dyeing it to White

Blag, on May 2, 2019 at 9:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
How do I dye my veil white? It’s an off white and I can’t return it so that’s not an option. I want to do it safely

Bleach? I would wait for others to suggest as well, but my first thought would be bleach

I would think bleach as well, though I’d caution you to be cautious! Maybe seek professional help?

You'd have to take the color out of it by using bleach.
You're playing with fire. Good luck!

Maybe try fabric dye? Ritdye makes dye for synthetic and natural fibers

I would post it somewhere for sale and buy a new one. You can find some BEAUTIFUL veils on both Amazon and etsy for very decent prices. I would be worried about ruining the veil.

Bleach is pretty much your only choice- you can't really dye something a to a lighter color from a darker color (even if it's as close as white and ivory). If you do attempt it, there's a huge chance of ruining your veil (the bleach bleaching unevenly, bleach eating holes in it or "melting" the fabric depending on the type it is). If you do attempt, do it in a very clean tub, with lots of water, and just a small amount of bleach mixed well into it (maybe 2 bleach bottle caps worth). Be sure to mix super well right before. I wouldn't leave it for more than 3-5 minutes at a time. Have a second water source available big enough to dunk it fully into the water immediately after to wash out the bleach and stop it from bleaching unevenly. If your veil has a comb with the poofy part where the layers are sewn into it, that may be a problem area. Be sure to rinse multiple times before hanging to dry.

This exactly. Trying to bleach a fabric that's as delicate as a veil could lead to DISASTER and end up having you buying a new one anyway. Please, don't bleach your veil.
