Veil: Chapel or Cathedral length??

L'eron and Adrian's Wedding, on May 28, 2013 at 3:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

We are getting married on 7/27/13. Our long engagement (over a year) has given us adequate time to plan and be cost efficient. We are having 130 guest and our cost including Ceremony and Reception which is all-in-one, Food (plated meal), Beverages (including liquor and bartender), Decor, Photographer,, DJ, Wedding coordinator, and Inviations cost us $7300.

I bought my dress online from a department store on Black Friday of last year.. It's not the traditional wedding dress with a train so I decided for the ceremony to give it that train feel by adding a long veil. The problem I'm having is I'm unsure what length I should buy. Any suggestions?? My dress has ruching throughout the bodice and a rosette toward the bottom left side. I'm adding an Coral flower sash for a splash of our wedding colors which are Coral and Malibu blue.

I'd do chapel length. Plenty of length but not too much.

If you want a more damatic looking train, I would do a cathedral.

I vote for chapel as well...I'm really nerdy and would probably be bothered if the veil was longer than the dress haha (at least on me)

I'm cutting train off of my dress and doing a chapel veil. I walked around the store in various lengths and unless the veil has the most intricate of beadwork/lace going up and filling the bottom, it is simply too long and an adjusted length chapel looks best. Standing barefoot in my dress, I'm 66in tall and figured out that an 83in total length veil worked best.

@ Laura I'm 59 inches tall so I definitely don't want something that will over power me. Haha. I have not tried any on yet, I'm just one of those people that likes to know what I'm looking for before I leave the house. I don't like shopping that much. Well not for things I'm only using once. LOL.

Yeah, it took an hour of prancing around the shop and having the girl put the veil on and off and clip it to different lengths and still hide the train on my dress. I also have a full skirt for a dress, so depending on your dress it can be even shorter, and I was told I could custom order the length of the veil.

I'm not a fan of cathedral length veils. They seem to be more trouble than they're worth.

Cathedral length is just too much veil for me, so my vote is for chapel!

Cathedral length veil hangs feet behind you while a chapel length veil is floor length or slightly longer correct? If that's right I want a chapel length veil Smiley smile

Just from the post I have read already, I'm assuming I should go Chapel length due to the fact that I'm only 4ft 11in. I don't want all the attention on the veil or the fact that I'm all caught up in it. Thanks ladies!! Keep the post coming!!

@Tiffany, it just so happen my cousin is a Professional Photographer so we are getting the family discount and his Barber is a Professional DJ hence another discount. Wedding are expensive and since we are paying for it ourselves we had to make a budget and try to stay close to it even thought we went over a little bit...

@ Shortstuff I think what you said sums them up. I don't know much about them but from browsing internet pics that's what I see.
