Hi everyone!
When I purchased my dress I had thought I for sure wanted to skip the veil and just go with pretty hair pins. I also thought for sure I'd cut off most of the train. However, the more I look at wedding pictures, I worry I'd regret not getting a veil, and the more I stare at my dress the more I'm worried I'll miss the gorgeous train...
So far my pros of no veil are:
- one less thing to buy
- one less thing to transport to the the wedding
- one less thing to steam at the wedding
- one less thing to worry about having blow around during our outdoor ceremony
- FH doesn't love the idea of a veil (obviously I could go either way and it's ultimately about what I want to look like on our day)
My cons are:
- veils are so bridal and I'll never get to wear one again
- they make for stunning photos
- Mom and FMIL love the idea of the veil
- Dad has offered to buy all my bridal accessories like he did with my dress
- I love an excuse for more glitter, and the veil I tried on didn't shed glitter!
What are your thoughts on veil versus no veil? Bonus points if you're having a beach or destination wedding..?
And what would you do about the train? I originally thought I'd shorten it for the sake of walking across the sand at the beach, and one of the reasons I picked this dress is because it would be so easy to shorten (no lace on the hem) but when I went for my fitting to pick up my dress...it's just so gorgeous. It's very short walk across the sand (it's a narrow beach and we'll only have about 4 or 5 rows of chairs), for context.
For reference: below is my dress and the veil I tried it on with. The tulle on both is shimmer tulle. Would you go longer for the veil, skip the veil. etc? There isn't a veil that matches the lace on my dress from the designer, so I'd either do plain tulle or shimmer tulle I think.
