Vegan/vegetarian menus

What you serving to your vegan/vegetarian guests so they aren't limited to a single side or salad? What appetizers or dessert can they eat that you're offering?

I actually have no idea what they ordered aha. Because they were able to choose for themselves on a menu I never saw but they had a lot of options apparently

I have 4 vegan guests. We did a veggie skewer, roasted red-skinned potatoes, bread, and some kind of fancy salad as a starter.
We almost went with portobello mushroom over cous cous

Our vegan/vegetarian option was vegetarian risotto with marinated and grilled vegetables. We didn't have a say as to what the option was. That was their standard vegan/vegetarian food.

I'm expecting quite a few vegetarians and at least one vegan (not to mention gluten free and lactose intolerant), so we're purposely choosing caterers that have lots of options here. We haven't picked a menu yet but I'm insisting there be a good vegetarian entree, plus vegetarian & vegan options during cocktail hour. For one of the caterers I'm considering, I've kind of already chosen what I would do: a cheese station, vegetable spring rolls, and mini spinach pies for cocktail hour, with either eggplant parmesan or a stuffed portabella mushroom for the meal.

We are offering a veggie tray, fruit platter, and bruschetta as appetizers for our vegan guests. For the main course they will have a side salad and pasta with vegetables. 3 out of the 4 vegans are part of the wedding party :-)

    No idea 😂
We are doing a buffet. We only have 1 vegetarian on the guest list and she’s not someone I expect to rsvp yes. Obviously if she does then we will talk to the caterer.

Our veggie / vegan dish was a sun-dried tomato risotto cake topped with spinach, crispy fried leeks, and portobello chips. We actually encouraged a lot of non-vegetarians to order it as well because it was so delicious at our tasting! 😋

When we were choosing our hors d'ouevres for the big wedding, we were allowed to choose five. We picked the ones that sounded the best and then asked if any of them were gluten free or vegan. The black bean and poblano taco, which I thought sounded really good and the pictures were super cute (our tasting was supposed to be in March so it didn't happen), was vegan and gluten free and the spicy samosa we picked was also vegan. For the entrée, we were allowed to pick two. We didn't pick a specific vegetarian option because they'll still offer one if you don't, they just tell you what it is a couple months before the wedding. I'm mostly vegetarian and I really don't like mushrooms, which are a very common ingredient in vegetarian wedding entrees, so I requested that ours not be mushroom based, and our vendor coordinator wrote that into our contract. I don't know what we're going to do for the desserts now that we've postponed, but we're having an ice cream truck for our miniwedding, so we just asked the ice cream truck girl to bring some dairy free and gluten free options. Also, for our miniwedding, we needed to accommodate a gluten free person, and our caterer chose to make everything gluten free to make things easier/less expensive. If you tell your caterer that you have a lot of vegan/vegetarian people, they might include more options that those people can eat, but everyone else will also enjoy.

Our vegetarian option was a butternut squash ravioli. We didn't have any vegan guests. I believe that 3 out of our 6 appetizers during cocktail hour were vegetarian as well

We had gnocchi as the vegetarian entree that was preceded by a salad. For cocktail hour we had fries and mini grilled cheeses as well as a cheese and crackers spread. We didn’t have any vegans only vegetarians.

We had vegan side dish options on the buffet, but also specially asked for vegan dishes for our 2 vegan guests. I believe they chose a summer squash pasta, and loved it.

Thankfully our venue is very flexible and offers separate menus for everyone with dietary needs. We will not be choosing vegetarian (or vegan) options for any of the courses as our venue will provide a completely different set of meals for those who are vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, gluten free etc.

We’ll have four vegetarians at ours. The venue is going to make them special meals since we’re having a buffet. We are having pierogies, fresh fruit with yogurt, and a cheese fondue as vegetarian appetizer options during cocktail hour. The soup, salad, and sides during the buffet are also meatless.
We’re lucky that our venue is willing to make special meals for anyone with dietary restrictions for lifestyle or allergy reasons.
