Usps/ups/fedex for shipping ring

Ashley, on March 9, 2018 at 11:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
I need to ship my engagement ring to my mom so she can fit a wedding band with it (she’s a jeweler). Which company would you trust most to ship something like this?? Thank you!

Ups and FedEx will charge more, especially if you tell them how much what you're shipping means to you. 😣.

I had to ship my ring from Tennessee to California for some repairs. I used the USPS. They sent me text alerts which was great and offered added insurance in case anything happened to it. I, of course, overnighted it. I didn't want to stress for a couple days whether it would make it there or not.

Whatever you use, just make sure you get insurance, a tracking number, and require a signature for delivery.

I would go with UPS. You will pay a little more but it will arrive sooner, so you are paying for quicker delivery. I may be biased though since my FH works for UPS.

I agree with AbbyK. Insurance, tracking, and signed delivery are extremely important

I've been having issues lately with USPS ever since they teamed up with Amazon. I don't think they can handle the larger volume with the amount of workers they have. Maybe it's just my branch that's having issues, though.
I would be more inclined to trust UPS or FedEx before USPS because of that.

Ups. Be sure to put the declared value on it for The insurance.

I would never use USPS. If wedding invitations barely make it, I def wouldn’t be giving them my ring. The other two are my preference.

I noticed that too, but I thought it was just me!! They’ll say stuff is in the box but it’s totally empty, yet after I call to inquire, I get a call back and it’s magically there 20 minutes after. Multiple times. Or it’s just delayed like crazy. I was having a living seahorse shipped to me and it was delayed 2 DAYS on an overnight shipment. Thankfully the little guy was sturdy and survived but ugh.

Use either UPS or FEDEX, but I’d recommend using the overnight option with tracking and signature. No sense is being cheap when it comes to mailing something important.

Also, make sure that your insurance policy on your ring covers the ring being damaged or lost in transit by shipping companies (USAA does cover this but not sure about others).

both my jeweler and FEDEX told me to NOT declare the value of the ring (it’s usually printed somewhere and/or can be seen by people when it’s scanned at various points in transit) on the package since it will call attention to the box and make it ripe for theft. Besides it’s already covered by the insurance policy for my ring.

also, if she is a jeweler, she should be able to tell you which of the two companies is more reliable in delivering to her business (FEDEX and UPS can be different in different geographic locations). What does she normally use to ship jewelry to her clients? I’d take her advice before the WW community Smiley smile

USPS is reliable and they are the best. You can even track the shipment easily using their tracking page https://litebluelogin.me
