Ushers

FarmWife, on March 9, 2017 at 8:38 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Are ushers supposed to get matching tuxes with the groom/groomsmen? My FH says no, they can wear a suit, and my mom says they HAVE to have a matching tux. I didn't know what was normal on this situation. Thanks!

I had my usher at my first wedding wear a matching tux. This time we are doing suits and we are leaving it up to our usher if he wants one to match or to do something different.

I haven't seen a dedicated usher in quite some time; usually it's the GM's.

Don't make them rent a tux. Let them wear a suit or something presentable.

My brothers are going to be users and they get to wear whatever suit they want.

My FH was an usher at a wedding last year, he just wore a black suit. His tie matched the GM... It was a first time I'd seen it in awhile.

We haven't asked anyone to be ushers yet, but if we did, would they sit at the head table as well?

FH was an usher for two different cousins' weddings, and he had to order matching tuxes for them. Because of this, he thought that's how it is supposed to be. I didn't think it was necessary, and that it was just an extra cost for the ushers. I finally convinced him that the ushers could just wear a nice suit that they already have.

My nephews will be ushers and I told my brother they can wear any suit they'd like. He's insisting they match the groomsmen so they'll be renting suits to match the color scheme of the groomsmen. I think it's really up to you!

Our ushers (my teenaged nephews and nieces - because who says ushers must be boys!) are wearing suits and dresses that coordinate with our wedding, but they definitely aren't the same tuxes or BM dress. Ask them to wear a nice suit and if your mom is allllll about the matching, you could get them matching ties?

    No Farmwife.

Some of you seem to always lean towards making everything way more complicated and expensive than anything has to be. Why should anyone rent suits for kids to be ushers, which you don't need anyway?

My nephew will be an usher, and my brother is buying him a suit (he's graduating a month later so he'll need a new suit anyway). My ring bearer's father (my cousin) was surprised my brother isn't getting my nephew a tux, and he was going to put his son in a tux. I asked him why tf does a 7-year-old need a tux? He's carrying an empty ring box down the aisle and sitting down. Get that boy a suit and call it a damn day.

@Celia, mine would both be adults. I don't see the necessity in them having to have a tux, but everyone else in my family did, which is why I'm asking. I am leaning towards not having them at all. Not trying to make anything complicated at all.

Our 2 ushers are renting the same tuxes as the groomsman and the best man
