Ushers Attire

Ushers who simply help people get to seats, or escort the mothers who are last to be seated before the processional begins, but are not also groomsmen, need not match anyone. As in your case, they are usually family, a d wear what a nicely dressed family guest would. Usually at least a sports coat or blazer even with a very casual wedding. A boy, not young man yet, should look nice, but not necessarily a suit. A vest and shirt , with or without a clip on tie, is great, and usually stays nicer than a plain shirt front.

I let my ushers wear whatever they wanted. I've never been to a wedding where the ushers' attire matched the bridal party before

I’ve never seen matching ushers attire! If anything you could give them color suggestions but wouldn’t be worried about them matching or buying new clothes to be an usher.

Thanks so much for all the input! I think we're going to ask them to wear dark pants fo sure, but leave the rest up to them

Unless the groomsmen are pulling double duty as ushers (many do), put them in regular suits
