Usher Issues

Mandi, on August 13, 2019 at 7:16 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7
My fiance picked 2 ushers. One of which is notoriously flaky. I mentioned to him that he should consider choosing a third. Just in case the wind changed direction. Well he didn't ask a third. And the wind direction has changed. So now we probably only have 1 usher because the 2nd one is going to live a couple states away. Of course this could all change by the time the wedding comes around in 7 months.
Hoping the fiance figures out that he needs to ask our other choice for usher asap.
Before you tell me that you have been to plenty of weddings without ushers, that's great. I haven't and they are absolutely necessary in my area. And I'm not going to be rude and not provide them. So bless your heart.

Love the end of this post LOL!!!
Hope your FH gets someone quick cause even if he says he’ll help 3 would be good to have just in case!! Less stressful for you!
    Good luck!

I’m totally having ushers too and don’t care that it’s not the norm nowadays. 😬 My friend’s wedding didn’t have ushers last month, and she had several seats towards the front of the ceremony room and towards the inside of the aisle that were empty. The photographer did a good job making it less noticeable in pictures, but people usually don’t seat themselves well without ushers. Your FH could get the groomsmen to double duty. I’ve been to several weddings where groomsmen also served as ushers before the ceremony started.

5-7 months seems reasonable to wrangle in another usher. Yes life would be easier if our SO's would listen though.

It is. I just dont want him to feel like an afterthought. Especially since he was on the shortlist to be a groomsman originally. And well, lord knows how long my fiance will wait to ask him.

I understand. My FH has two ushers lined up both are very dependable. However, with our anticipated number of guests, I think we really need three ushers. I feel the same about our hostesses. I believe we need to add one more to check in guests at the reception. He thinks two will be enough for both. I’m letting him have it his way lol because it is minute in the grand scheme on things but I’m praying we don’t have issues that could have been avoided by adding one more person . 😊

No matter where you are, it is not rude to not provide ushers - that's a little dramatic. Seriously, this is not a big deal. Also, you can ask someone else if you want, it doesn't have to be your H's job. These people are not part of the wedding party so it doesn't matter who asks who. If you want another one, just ask somebody.
