Uplighting

FortyandFabulous, on April 22, 2016 at 6:34 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 22

I really want uplighting at my wedding but ultimately it is a want not a must for the wedding with the costs of everything else. I've priced it around from our chosen venue to some rental places, I even looked at some online (cheaper end of lighting) but hard to know what something is like without seeing it in person. Has anyone purchased their own? Wondering if some of the smaller home type lights might do the job??

Are you getting a DJ? Most DJs include uplighting in the total price of their services.

We have an all inclusive venue which includes our dj but the uplighting is separate, extra costs and then of course add service charges and taxes...more than I want to spend. However I can bring in my own at no charge whether renting through a business or buying my own.

Our dj provided them for around $25 per uplight to rent. How much are they charging you for the uplighting if you wanted to go through them? Home lights are different than the uplights that can really light up your venue. I would rent them either through the venue/dj or a rental company.

Our venue provided them, for $1,100. We had amber uplights, for a large ballroom - I don't know how many?. I know there were pinspots for 26 tables, the sweetheart table, and the cake table. The band provided their own lighting, for the stage. We didn't chose to do our names on the dance floor, or anything like that. The overall effect was gorgeous!

It would be about $310 which isn't bad I guess compared to the cost of the wedding, As I'm sure you know it just all adds up quickly so I've just tried to save where I could. Our dj is a preferred vendor working with the all inclusive venue, so either way I'd be paying the venue

$1100? guess I shouldn't complain about $310 but sounds a lot larger than mine. I only want a few, behind sweetheart table

I think $310 is a great price! And believe me uplighting transforms your wedding space. I am sooooo glad we got uplights. We had 10 of them and it made a plain white tent turn into a blue winter wonderland.

Our DJ took half off the standard uplighting price...which brought it down to $500 and is unlimited! Look around to places that do multiple services and ALWAYS ask for a discount if it's a deal breaker. Vendors would rather you pay less than nothing at all.

We had 6 and they were included in the price of the DJ for $750 total.

Ask if they can throw them in at no extra charge.

Our venue will rent them to us for $300, we also got a $500 decoration credit for booking when we did, so they won't cost us a dime!

You're right, its definitely a want so if it ends up not being in your budget, don't stress! Have you checked with your DJ? Ours offered uplighting for $25/light and we only needed 6 for the size of our ballroom so it was very affordable!

Also, please change your avatar to something other than the rings (this is not the same as the background pic on the app). It will help you get more responses to your posts, because the rings are associated with spam/trolls. One of the venues we're looking at has it for $200 but they told us to ask dj's because it's typically included in their package or can be for less.
