Uplighting in a Tent?

Jenna, on May 5, 2020 at 7:43 AM Posted in Planning 1 4

Hi everyone! Hope you're staying sane and healthy in these times!

We're planning a tented wedding reception in May 2021. We're locking in our vendors early but unsure about uplighting. I read in other forums its definitely not necessary, but curious if that changes with a tent? I am worried it won't be bright enough at night. There are twinkle lights hanging from the ceiling but will that be enough? I don't want our guests to have a hard time seeing as the sun goes down.

You need to provide sufficient lighting, but that doesn't mean that it has to be uplighting. String lights likely won't be enough.

Uplighting isnt necessary but given you only have twinkle lights so far I recommend it. It also adds to the atmosphere.

You definitely need more lighting than twinkle lights.

You'll definitely need to provide some lighting as it gets dark out! Does the company you're renting your tent from also provide lighting packages? That would be the easiest to coordinate!

You should also look into bistro & globe lights. They provide much more light than lanterns and string lights - which are both mainly decorative for ambiance!
