uplighting examples / advice?

Cara, on November 13, 2017 at 7:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I wasn't completely sure what uplighting was with the DJ package. From my understanding of it, it would light up the walls of the room and give it a more "party/club" vibe. We are having a Saturday night wedding and wanted to go with this vibe, but I'm not sure I had ever seen uplighting in person (or at least knew that I had). I've seen some pros and cons of other people discussing it- how the lights can mess up photos, it appears as a sweet 16, etc. I was also told we can keep the lighting one solid color (such as amber). I was wondering if anybody had pictures/video footage of their uplighting as an example? Any other pros/cons to it? I have already paid for it but am trying to see examples of one color versus multiple flashing ones. Thank you!

Here's our ballroom (a different wedding) with pin-spots on the centerpieces, and amber up-lights. We weren't going for a party/club look, as the venue was 100 years old.

My DJ said that he would have lights in the immediate dance floor area, but I wasn't sure if it would look funny without the rest of the room being lit up as well. I'm having a very hard time picturing how any of this would look and I've been incredibly indecisive.

I’m in the same dilemma. Wondering if I should add uplighting for $30 each.
