Updos for round face?!

Alison, on July 18, 2016 at 2:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So with moving the wedding up I definitely will not be at my goal weight, and my most self conscious feature is my double chin haha. Especially with being tall, it seems like everytime someone takes my photo they are looking up with the camera and it makes my chin look bigger. I have always hated having my picture taken and I'm extremely nervous about it. So what kind of hair style would help to camouflage or take away from it? I know I am my own worst critic and I know people will say no one will even notice it but I do and I want to feel confident. I am still trying to lose as much as I can but in 4 months I know it'll still probably be there lol please help with ideas!

Following! I have a round face too-- and it doesn't really matter what size I am. I've always had a round face and I always will have a round face.

I'm in the same boat. I'm tall as well and feel your pain about the double chin, especially in pictures. Your hairdresser should know what hair styles fit your face...mine suggested a low side bun woth curls. Good luck. You'll be beautiful!

Hire a tall photographer? Honestly though, if it's something you feel self conscious about, maybe let your photographer know so that he/she can come up with some poses where they won't be shooting from below.

Maybe a hairstyle where the hair is pulled completely away from the face or off to the side in a loose knot would interest you.

Making sure that you still have some hair framing your face instead of all pulled away should help.

you want to do things that break up the shape or give the illusion of a longer face. I have the same problem. I also have basically no neck so at my biggest and skinniest i basically always have a double chin at certain angles. ETA: a lot of the pics in this article aren't updos but there are still several in it!!

Also, have your makeup artist contour your neck area. It seriously works wonders!!!

I'm actually a licensed cosmetologist so you would think I would know the answer to this question haha but it's so different when it's yourself!! All the suggestions you guys have given are what I have done to others in the past. But for me I feel those tricks won't be enough haha. I thought about wearing a veil, hoping that in any picture when I am looking to the side it could lay at my law line and cover my chin. The photographer we are going with isn't tall. BUT I am demanding she use a stool lol not even kidding. Back to the veil though, I was worried it would not look right in some of the outdoor pictures because I will be wearing a red cloak lined with white fur over my dress and I just thought the veil would clash or be too much??

Yes!! I am a contour maniac it definitely does do wonders!! I am so picky about my makeup so I have been debating back and forth about if I want to hire someone or do it myself. I would love to get airbrush makeup but I can't find anyone around here who does it Smiley sad

I have a very round face, complete w/ chubby cheeks. For updo's I usually do a sweep in the front (like the inspos @mimi posted above) and some teasing/height at the crown OR a large faux hawky pouf at the very front (think a very refined and smooth Snooki pouf). Sounds terrible but is actually pretty slimming on my face. Still not sure which way I'm going for my wedding...

ETA: @SarahAnn. That website is life changing lol! I seriously needed to see that.

Having your hair draped at an angle and avoiding hairstyles that "end" at your checks are going to be important to balance a round face. If you decide to wear a veil (or birdcage veil), have it end below the chin. You could even have one made which incorporates white fur on the base that attaches to the head.

A layered haircut with face-framing pieces can soften your jawline. Consider a side-swept style to draw attention upward. When you primp and blow overland park , ask for voluminous curls to balance proportions—you’ll look stunning! Remember, its trusted & confidence shines brighter than any detail.
