I've been using the WeddingWire seating chart tool since I used WeddingWire for my wedding website, and I also opted for online-only RSVPs (so I had to input my entire guest list). I noticed there have been some updates, which, great, the tool could've used some updates, for sure! The tool is now a bit more user-friendly, and the guest list toolbar is larger and better organized. It also generates a list of your tables and the guests seated there.
However, in my opinion, some of the updates were not helpful:
- Now you have to drag and drop individual people instead of whole parties (couples and families).
- There also isn't an option to make the seating chart "full screen" so you are constantly trying to scroll back and forth between the chart itself and your guest list. If you have a guest at the top of your guest list and you want to seat them at a table at the bottom of your seating chart, good luck! You're going to have to move the whole table temporarily.
- Additionally, now there is no option to input the area of the room or the size of the tables. If I was just trying to get an idea of how to seat 125 guests at 16 tables, this would be fine, but I want to know that those 125 guests at 16 tables will fit in a specified area too!
I had a rough draft of my seating chart done before the update so I know the tables fit in the space I have. That being said, I'll probably be using a different seating chart generator the rest of the way because I keep getting frustrated every time I use the tool.
