*UPDATE!!* RSVP date during Holidays?!?

Forse2016, on October 18, 2015 at 8:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

*Spoke with venue, was told was told that I could give a rough count with final venue payment (12/16) and pay for any additional guests one week before wedding! Woohoo!! Thank you all for your responses!! Best to all!! Smiley smile

I've heard that nobody really RSVPs but we ordered them anyway - we think they're a nice touch. Problem is, our wedding date is 1/16/16. Please help with the RSVP date!!!

Venue, which is all-inclusive and charge per-person, says they like to know a final head count 30 days in advance. I thought it was two weeks, when we have to have the song list to the DJ (included in venue package). Now I'm freaking out because I wanted to confirm the printing of invites tomorrow. I'm afraid guests will be so busy with holiday things that the invites will be lost in the shuffle if we ask for an RSVP date near Christmas or New Year's Eve. Any thoughts?!

Thanks!

We are date twins but at least 100 of my guests are from out of state, so I actually sent my invitations last week with a due date of December 7th. I was also afraid of people not responding during the holidays but what can you do. I already have an idea of who's coming and who's not coming though.

Another date twin (I think I've seen more than a handful now!) We are sending invites next week with an RSVP date of 12/15 and are already expecting to have to chase people down (we are doing online RSVPs).

Thanks so much! I was considering the 12/16 because I read that it might be easily remembered due to being exactly one month prior to the wedding. I love my date and am so glad to share it with you all! Feel free to share tips, plans, fears! lol FH and I both have January bdays and love the winter (or at least what we call winter in southern Louisiana) so we figured what better date!

    Thanks!

I think the rsvp dates mentioned are good! I think the ppl that will rsvp will still rsvp even with the holiday season but give yourself a few days to track down non rsvp-ers before your head count is due.

Forse, in your original post, you said your venue needs to numbers 30 days before, therefore 12/16 wouldn't be a good date. That is 30/31 days before. There will be people who don't reply and you will have to track them down! That would mean you need to track all the non-responders down that day before your venue closed for the afternoon! I recommend setting the day at least a few days before that!

I'm with @Miranda. I would put your date for the first week in December so that you have a little cushion before the actual deadline.

Yes, you need 1-2 weeks to track down the non-responders. Since your venue wants numbers by 12/16 (which is oddly early by the way) that means your RSVP date should be during the first week of Dec.

I'm with you Forse2016----RSVP cards are not outdated and are a nice touch. Smiley smile I agree with many on this post. I would recommend asking for a December 1, 2015 due date. This will give you a few days to wait for those that may have been sent out exactly on your due date and close to it. After the 5th, you can start to call/text/email those that had not yet responded. You will have that week to tally those guests before your final numbers are due by the Venue. Best of luck! -Brittany

I would go with Dec 1 for the RSVP date since your venue wants the numbers by the 16th. Some people drop the card in the mail on the rsvp date, and some need to be tracked down.

I would do either 12/1 or 12/5 to give yourself atleast 10 days to two weeks to track people down.

I agree that you should give yourself a buffer for tracking people down. I need to get an estimate to my venue about a month early so I set my RSVP date as Nov. 15th so that I have another two weeks to track people down.

Put it for the first 2 weeks od December that way it also gives you wiggle room to chase those who didn't RSVP.

Date twins! We're mailing ours out 11/4 with an RSVP of 12/4. I wanted them back before the holiday rush and before they got mixed up with holiday cards, etc.

12/1 seems easy to remember and it gives late RSVPs a chance to come in and you time to contact those who didn't respond.
