UPDATE- Not so in love with my dress

Michelle, on March 10, 2017 at 4:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 51

I'm having dress regret!! Now that I've gotten my dress back I'm not sure if it's what I want. When I was shopping I tried this one on first and nothing else could compare. I kept shopping though because I didn't want a strapless dress but eventually I came back and bought it. Now I keep finding things wrong with it!! So I made a pro and con list

Pro:

I love the lace

I love the empire waist

I love the train

Con:

The dress makes my boobs look pointy

It looks like it was tailored too short (maybe it's the carpet??)

Still not sold on a strapless dress

Am I crazy? Is there anything that can be done to fix what I don't like about my dress?

Have you taken it in for alterations? Talk to them and they will tell you what they can fix.

I love it. I don't think it looks short. Are you wearing your shoes you plan to wear at the wedding? I think a seamstress could probably take out the boning of the dress. I hear what you're saying on the point in the boob area.

You could definitely see about adding straps if the strapless concept is bothering you. I'd think maybe something can be done about the pointiness in the chest - maybe doing something with the boning? I see what you mean - that would bother me. I think the length is perfect, actually, as long as you plan on wearing flats with the dress.

What about adding a belt to give the waist some more pop, since the empire waist is one of your favorite parts?

I love it!! My suggestion would be to add a sparkly belt to accentuate your waist

@beachbride2016 I considered a belt at first but it has this knot thing that's sewn into the dress that I'm not sure can be removed.

@helena handbasket yeah I've had it altered. Wasn't thrilled with her work. I'm considering taking it somewhere else but I'm not sure what it needs done exactly.

I think your dress is beautiful. Definitely look into adding straps if you feel uncomfortable going strapless. You don't want to be thinking how uncomfortable you are all day. And I agree with those above about the sparkly belt. I think that would really accent your waist.

I bought a strapless dress too and regretted it so I ended up wearing a bolero with it. I had the pointy boob thing going on too but it was a boning issue. My seamstress was able to adjust it a little and add cups to round everything out.

Your pointy boobs look like a boning issue. If you take it somewhere else can you ask about having them removed and cup sewn in?

It is beautiful on you!!!! Consider how it will look with a veil or hair piece.

I think it is a beautiful dress but I understand the issue with your boobs. I'm worried that my dress will present the same issue when it comes in, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't since it is ordered closer to size. Update and let us know what a seamstress tells you about it if you go.

Definitely take to another tailor, someone established. If you're not happy, you won't be happy, and I definitely see the point thing you're talking about.

I imagine a good tailor might take that tied thing in the middle, make you some awesome straps or a halter out of it, add a beautiful blingy belt, and fix that boning in the chest. A great tailor is like a magician.

You look great! Can you add straps to the dress or an overlay?

Straps can definitely be added. I chose a strapless gown and had little lace cap sleeves added. There are lots of options, especially for your dress style.

I think the length is perfect.

I see the pointy part in the boob area but that can be fixed and you can get straps added. I'd take it to a different seamstress.

I see the point in the boob area, but its a beautiful dress, I would check with a seamstress about that part. I do like your hair down in that dress better than up btw.

Mmm. I definitely see the pointy boobies. I too had dress regret. I fell in love with the back of a strapless dress. Up until a few months ago, I began to think "I hate strapless anything. I have broad shoulders, my armpits look weird. I don't like it." It was then that I realized I hated my dress, but ONLY loved the back detail. I exchanged it for a qtr sleeve dress that I just LOVE everything about. Everything!

If you're not happy and your store will allow you to exchange, I advise you to shop for a new one, because I am so happy that I did

    Update!!!

I took my dress by a Davids bridal this morning and the sales lady showed me this dress topper. It made me feel so much better about the dress. What do y'all think??
