Hi all!

Wondering if any brides are in a similar situation - we are getting married on Lake Como at the end of May. Given the current level 4 travel restrictions to that region we’re starting to get anxious. Nothing we can do at the moment since we’re still 90 days out, but curious if anyone is in a similar boat and what you’re hearing?

It’s bloody ironic isn’t it?! We’ve tried to do it in the most stress-free way and it’s ended up a nightmare.

We’re definitely going to get an email out sooner rather than later and hopefully we can reassure our guests it’s still on and we won’t get any drop outs!
I’ve spoken to a few of my vendors who have said it’s really not that bad by the lake, a few isolated cases but quarantine measures are being followed and they are positive it will soon be behind us. So we’ve got to try and stay positive too.
It’s just so unfair - of all the countries, why oh why did it have to be Italy?!?

Yes, I live in Suffolk 😊 are you in London?

Hahaha I am actually very similar, however I’ve been sitting my law exams on top of full time work and there’s just no way I’d have been able to plan a wedding too!
Yeah that’s not very helpful, and I don’t think true either?! My dad has basically said we need to make a decision 4-6 weeks out. If the lockdown is extended until end of April we will definitely have to postpone 😔
Fingers crossed, just got to keep positive xx

I bet you are feeling relieved now you’ve postponed. I feel as though I would feel so much better but equally can’t really make the decision until April!

Yes we’re in London! Funny how coronavirus hasn’t taken hold here but it has in such small towns in Italy...!

So this is really the very last thing you need then!!

I’m trying to stay positive that all will be ok. I keep telling myself they will do all they can between now and April to resolve it because they couldn’t afford to remain locked down for any longer.
Got everything crossed for you. Do you have everything else sorted already? Xx

It’s probably only a matter of time before it goes crazy here! Although at least we can see how it’s affected other countries so are more in a position to deal with it 🤞🏼🙏🏻

That’s definitely it, the effect on the economy would be so big if they keep it locked down! Keeping everything crossed for us all.
Pretty much! A few things like make up trial, getting a hair piece, dress fittings etc I’ve postponed because I don’t feel like I’m in the right frame of mind right now and won’t enjoy it. How about you??

Same!! We are pretty much all done - I think the only big thing left to get is his suit. We’ve picked it out and I was sooooooo excited to tick that final box, but now I’ve lost all enthusiasm for it.

I know I’m being a real Debbie Downer but just can’t seem to shake it off at the moment! Keep telling myself it can’t last forever and at least when things are this bad, they can only get better 💗 Xx

We just got the boys suits the other weekend. I can’t believe how deflated I feel about everything! When is your hen do?

I’m the same. My fiancé is being so positive and I’m literally just down in the dumps! He has his stag this weekend, I’m just glad my hen isn’t until May! Xx

How funny ours are the same - his stag is this weekend and mine is May! At least by then we will know what is going on and, if worst case scenario, would’ve had time to get used to it.

I have another “mini hen” next weekend, just an afternoon in London, and I wish I could cancel but people have booked their train tickets from out of town. I just don’t have it in me to be excited about our wedding that may or may not go ahead this year, let alone go ahead as we’ve planned.
My fiancé wants to discuss other options and I think it’s a good idea, I just think I’m too sad to be rational right now. It’s nice they are trying to stay positive for us - at least it confirms we’re marrying the right men??
Do you keep jumping from one extreme mindset to the other - pure positivity and optimism, and then you look at the news and it dissipates immediately into deep despair?! Xx

It’s crazy! It’s so nice to find someone who is in the same boat. As lovely as our friends and family are being, they just don’t understand how it feels 😔

Maybe just do it and it will at least distract you for a bit! I have my bridal shower in April (with all the ladieees, as I’m only having a small hen) - it’s mid April so will at least know what’s going on by then.
The only thing with other options is that if we look at postponing then we don’t actually know when to because who knows how long the virus will be around for? What are your other options? It’s such a stressful time and I feel like all there is to do is wait.
I’m exactly the same!! I keep having really down moments then being like well surely it won’t still be around by then?! I’m like a yo-yo! A hell of an emotional roller coaster. I’ve got to stop reading up about it because I’m driving myself insane.

It’s so nice to talk to someone who is in the same boat and really understands! Everyone just keeps saying “it’ll be fine by then” - which is great that they’re trying to reassure me, but on the other hand, the real possibility that it won’t be needs to be discussed! (But I don’t want to discuss that either!)

Yep I can’t stop with the news and googling and reading every article I can get my hands on, and it’s really not helping. I think we have to give it at least 2 weeks of the lockdown to expect any improvement.
    Our options are;
We postpone the wedding in Lake Como - and like you said, that then brings up the question of when to because we don’t know when this ordeal will be over? And I don’t want a winter Lake Como wedding and I sure as hell don’t want a 2021 wedding!!Or,We cut our losses with Lake Como, lose the deposits we’ve paid, and try and plan a wedding in London at some point this year.
I can’t say I’m happy with either of those scenarios 😭 what would your options be? Xx

    Hi Kathryn!

I’m in the same predicament. Unfortunately, my guests have started cancelling and slowly all of our wedding plans for 5/22 in Tuscany are imploding so I’m in revive and recover mode for a plan b (locally) with hopes of being able to plan a vacation to Italy in the future with any kind of credits we receive.... im so sorry you are in this situation because I can understand the stress it is likely causing and anxiety about changing things up on your guests. Just breathe and know that you have all your best supporters around you and that will be there for you in September!
    Be well,Jayna
