Upbeat Two step/texas swing first dance

Amber, on January 6, 2020 at 11:52 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Has anyone been to or had a wedding with a fast country song as their first dance. FH and my song is what the heaven by kyle park. FH thinks it's too fast of a song and that all the first dances hes seen were slow dances where they couple basically just swayed back and forth. Would a fast song be a change of pace and refreshing or would it just be too much?

I think this is one of those things that falls under the category of being completely up to your and your future spouse's preference. The pace of the first song doesn't affect guests in the slightest. So unless you are planning on dancing for 10 minutes and making your guests watch the whole thing (Smiley winking) then do whatever you both want.

Our first dance was to "On My Way to You" by Cody Johnson and we did a traditional country two step. It was quicker at times and with lessons, it looked great!

Originally we had picked out "It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw for our first dance song. As much as we really like it, and the lyrics do fit us pretty well, it wasn't the one we both felt was "our song." So, lately we've been toying with the idea of a faster song, the one we actually feel is "our song," which is also Tim McGraw, but "Shotgun Rider" which is a lot faster tempo. But my thinking is that doing a little two-step to that song will be way more interesting than the slower song. Also, it will be FUN! We're trying to make this all about the fun, so it works for us! Now I just have to find us a few dance lessons to brush up on our two-step.

I think if the song speaks to you and FH, it doesn't matter the tempo.

Yeah the more I think about it, the more it feels like the right choice for us. I will need some help though. I can't remember the steps! It's just been too long since I did that kind of dancing. Lol
