untraditional father/daughter dance song

Hey yall! I'm trying to pick out a daddy daughter song and they're all way too mushy. They're GORGEOUS, but not my father and I at all. We're very sarcastic together and we love geeky shows. He loves sci-fi and science fiction and science fiction books. That's what we bond over. Shows like doctor who, firefly, star trek and star wars, etc. In saying that, songs like Tim McGraw-My Little Girl, just feels weird for me. Does anyone have any suggestions on non traditional songs?? Neither one of us are dancers either lol we'll probably just throw on some 3D glasses and sway back and forth awkwardly. I just need something that embodies my dad and I. Thank you!

My cousin and her dad did "The Twist" - was fun and set the tone for the rest of the reception. She was going for "not mushy". My dad always joked that we would dance to "She Drives Me Crazy" by the Fine Young Cannibals.

Can't really help you with that, I used a mushy song for my father/daughter dance. Hope you find a very untraditonal song that fits you best.

Have you thought of a custom mix song? Like, start off to the Star Wars opening theme, then cut to a more traditional song (if you find one). Or, heck, do any of your/his favorite tv shows have a catchy opening/closing song? I'm sure there are all sorts of orchestra/music only versions of Star Wars.

OH! Do the cantina song from Star Wars!

So this could be a bit sappy, but have you considered "Faith of the Heart" by Rod Stewart? It's the opening song to the Star Trek: Enterprise episodes. You can always do what Katie S. suggested and go for a custom mix song!

We're using "you've got a friend in me". Not mushy but makes me tear up so it's perfect for us!
