Unsightly Ceremony Location

Tracy, on August 14, 2019 at 12:56 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
So, major issue at my venue with them not getting our ceremony location in tip top shape. I've been promised since the winter when I booked, that this was just do to the season and it would be taken care of. I've been back twice now and nothing has been done, in fact it looks worse Smiley sad I sent an email to every managers name I could get my hand on yesterday and as of 12:54 est no response........starting to freak a bit.

I went full metal jacket (j/k) but really said I was seriously considering canceling if this wasn't taken care of.

Thoughts, supportive messages, have you been here..............

Yea my ceremony venue when we first booked it was really nice and remodeled in terms of the landscaping but man their upkeep was not good. They didn't really water the grass well or much and it just turned from Green to yellow aha. But in the end because it was an outdoor courtyard where the rental chairs were on for the ceremony you didn't really see the grass much anyway.

Thanks Melle! Unfortunately part of the issue is the landscaping, but the big issue is that the ceremony is on a 2nd level outdoor brick patio called the O-deck. No upkeep has been done at all and there are major issue Smiley sad Brick facing coming off, overgrown weeds in the planters, weeds and cigarette butts in the fireplaces....ugh!

Oh no! Smiley sad Are you allowed to do some of the clean up? At least the cigarette butts. My ceremony venue also looks...bad right now. Girl there are COBWEBS all over the ceiling and pillars. 🤢 We’re just going to clean it because they’d rather neglect it. There’s also a crack in the wood that wasn’t there before so we need an aisle runner. Just do what you can! It’ll look beautiful once you decorate it.

I would contact them and ask them for a date when they plan to have it fixed up and I would be honest and tell them I am considering changing my venue if it’s not done soon.

I have I sent a very lengthy email to that affect on Tuesday to all managers at the venue. As of this moment, no reply.

Perhaps it’s time to reach out to the owner, and ask them specifically when the work will be completed. I would be wary of threatening to cancel, because there may be clauses in your contract which could forfeit your deposit. I wish you luck.

Well ladies. I followed up with a phone call today and the GM assured me that half of the issues had already been taken care of and that it would be in perfect condition for my inspection date of 9/14/19. Keeping my fingers crossed until then!

Thanks for your comments Smiley smile
