You could have a sign stating "Unplugged Ceremony" at the entrance, and also ask your officiant or DJ to announce it before the ceremony.

At the unplugged ceremony I went to an announcement was made to put cell phones and cameras away right before the ceremony actually started. I've also seen people put up easels at the ceremony entrance.

We had an unplugged ceremony. We had our officiant announce it before the ceremony began.

We’re putting it on our website, having a sign, and having it announced before the ceremony starts. We’ve also told people so it can spread by word of mouth. The person most likely to break the rule is my fiancé’s mother, so we figured telling her early and reminding her was a good idea.

Our ceremony is intended to be very sentimental but light hearted and our celebrant is such a big personality (we've given her full permission to do any appropriate 'ad-libing' on the day) so she will be telling our guests something along the lines of the following before the ceremony gets started:

'Please place your phones on silent and kindly stow them away for the ceremony. Put the instagram story on hold for the ceremony and let the videographers work their magic'.

Personally I think a sign on its own is insufficient and people will ignore it, but will be more responsive to actually being told to stash phones.

I went to a wedding last September and I didn’t see the sign posted but she said she had one. The officiant also made an announcement prior to everyone walking down but people did not listen. I was pissed for her. We were looking through her photos and all I noticed were the cell phones in the air in the background 🤦🏽‍♀️

I will have a sign and announcement as well my DOCs were also told that they can remove people who are taking photos. I’m paying a lot for those photos, and they better not be ruined lol

My DJ is going to make an announcement before the ceremony and say somethi g along the lines "we have hired a photographer to capture this moment, please be respectful of this and keep your cameras down"

We would like to have one. Thought about having our wedding planner make an announcement right as all the guest are getting settled in and then having our Pastor make an announcement right before I walk down. Asking that they please respect our wishes. I thought about a fun sign but I'm going to pass on spending $50 for that lol!

To not break our guest hearts completely lol, before we exit we'll have our Paster announce that phones may be used during our exit. Doing like a redo pause kiss moment for them to snap away, like you have 30 seconds and go. But in a funny way if you can envision that lol. We think it'll be pretty funny if our photographer/videographer stands in the back and snaps everyone scrambling for their phones. 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

I’ve read and people shared not happy with cell phones in their professional pics regretting not doing unplugged.

Yeah that's why we want the ceremony to be unplugged until the very end. We're fine if it's phones in the shot of us during the exit...just not during the ceremony or when I'm walking down the aisle.

I am making a chalk sign that says please put away all of your devices. And I will also probably have dj or officiant make an announcement directly before the ceremony.

For our minimony we’re not but definitely for our big wedding. I plan on getting signs to put up and I’m sure it’ll also travel through word of mouth
