Unplugged Ceremony

Who's doing an unplugged ceremony? Are you having a sign and/or having the officiant mention it? I have a note on our FAQ questions page and am debating buying a sign as well. In my mind it would be a little awkward for the officiant to be standing at the front of the ceremony and scold everyone lol...

I'm going to have a big sign (and place it right where they will come in), putting it in the detail section of the invitations, having the officiant say something about it, and it's on the website.

We are having our officiant announce it and maybe having a sign. Unsure yet!

I'm going to make a sign, as well as have our officiant kindly remind people to put their phones and cameras away during the ceremony. I was recently a guest at a wedding, and the person in front of me held their iPad up, taking videos and pictures the entire ceremony! They were also taking selfies with it right in the middle of the ceremony! It was SO distracting. I'm sure I was not the only one frustrated...

We’re having an unplugged ceremony. We’re going to have a sign, and also have our officiant remind everyone before we begin!

I agree!! Also if the photographer (who we pay to take the pictures) was to get a crowd shot and half have their phones/cameras up, it would ruin the shot. (In my opinion.)

I've seen the officiant make an announcement at a couple of weddings- it's not a big deal- we plan on doing the same.

I had our officiant announce to everyone first before processional started to silence phones

My sister will come in on her own to make the announcement and then return to us outside the barn to take her place in line and begin the processional.

So we actually met with our officiant last night just to go over final things, and I asked if he would make an announcement like that. He looked so uncomfortable and said "well can you just put a sign out?" So I didn't press it further. Hopefully your officiant is more willing to say something haha

I totally agree!! I would hate to look back on pictures, and see everyone with their phones up during the ceremony!
