Hi all! I'm seriously considering an unplugged ceremony. FH seems unsure.. I think he's concerned it may be construed as pushy and rude, but I hate the idea of my photographer only having photos of people on their cameras and cell phones. Hi all! I'm seriously considering an unplugged ceremony. FH seems unsure.. I think he's concerned it may be construed as pushy and rude, but I hate the idea of my photographer only having photos of people on their cameras and cell phones. I also think it brings people to the present, which we all can struggle with a bit with our devices these days. I just think it's a lovely idea.

What are you opinions -- rude or appropriate? And those of you that did choose an unplugged ceremony/wedding, where did you get your signage? I want a lawn sign with a stand or stake to stand on it's own.

Thanks in advance! Smiley smile

And really, what are the snap happy guests *really* going to do with all those photos, except get it on Facebook and Instagram first? It's a distraction, and it can ruin some pro pics that you are paying good money for. Some people think nothing of it, but to me it's unbecoming to see arms sticking out with phones, and doing selfies at the reception.

While I definitely want a "plugged-in" ceremony, I did tell my photographer to tell family that they are not allowed to take pictures of family, FI and I, etcetera during cocktail hour when we are taking our photos. I was in a wedding this summer where every member of the bride's family wanted a copy of the family photo with their own cameras, her mom wanted pictures of the bridal party with her own camera, etc. It was a DISASTER. Cocktail "hour" ended up taking almost 3 hours. It was chaos. So my photographers are just going to tell family they have a rule that only they are allowed to take photos during that time, and that if they really want photos of FI and I they'll have to ask for them later, or take them during the reception or something. Unplugging can be so much less complicated!!!

The photographer has to find their voice, but to set them up for that is equally irresponsible.
